The Clintons are arch neoliberals. A cornerstone of neoliberal economics is to maintain a high rate of unemployment and to keep those (deliberately) unemployed at incomes well below the poverty line.

They pretend that it's all about 'fighting inflation' but the reality is that it's all about class war, driving real wages down, the wage share of national income down and thus increasing the profits of the very very wealthy.

This is how they manage to extract sooooooooo much fucking wealth from the lower 95% and bloat the upper crust into what it is today.
