hello everyone,
does anyone know if there is a maximum file size for submissions? for instance, can a file up to 400 kb be uploaded to lit for submission? thanks.

I recall seeing at least one story running over 20 Lit pages ( maybe more ) in a single submission. There's no restriction that I've ever seen to limit the length of a submission.

Won't know until you try it, though :)

I did a test. 400 kb is about 28,000 words in MS Word. That's something like 9 Lit pages. No big deal, except the number of reads you'll get will be fairly low.

After about 3 or 4 lit pages, readers tend to give up. That's what I think, anyway.

When beta-testing the original script conversion for Lit, I uploaded a 4Megabyte document via C&P into the submission form with no problem. That's the only method of submission that should have a problem with document size -- except for e-mail size limitations which isn't Lit's limitation but the e-mail providers' limitation.

I would suggest converting your document to a text file before uploading because I've seen a lot of complaints recently about RTF and DOC formatted uploads being garbled when converted to Lit's HTML story format.

Why not just paste it into the submission form?

It will get posted quicker, and would seem to be a whole hell of a lot easier.

I've never noticed any difference in the posting time between pasting and uploading ( I typically paste if it's only around 1-2 Lit pages ) when the document is in .txt format with the HTML tags inserted into the text. Pretty much six of one and half a dozen of the other, unless you aren't using any formatting whatsoever.

I use formatting all the time, and I still paste it in.

In the first iteration of Script Based processing, there was no difference beween uploading text to the submission form and uploading a pure text file except for some error trapping to make sure the file was in ascii/text format.

The time differences are for word-processer format files (DOC or RTF) vs C&P or Text File (.TXT or .ASC) upload (or e-mail submissions, which now have the longest delays of all.)
