Blackmail doesn't get the reviews it deserves as a story dynamic. Maybe people think it too hackneyed or tired as a concept... but the reason it will have been seen so often is that it is one of the few things which can work.

Many other suggested scenarios are just plain lacking in a coercive element when one is definitely needed. The reader is simply asked to accept that person X is 'reluctant'... but somehow strangely falls in line.

Certainly there are a myriad possible uses for it, the 'luring of wife away from the marital bed' being a fairly simple one.

When I think of blackmail, I always picture the person being blackmailed reaching a point where they just don't give a fuck if someone reveals the secret. If she's 60 years old, what does she have to lose? Career? The stakes have to be high enough for the recipient.

If it were me, I'd own up to the deed before my nemesis started making me get fucked by the neighbor dudes. I guess I'd fold pretty quick, so don't use me for your protagonist. Haha.

You'll have to make it clear what the stakes are for it to work. If she's doing daily NSA at an isolated house, she's pretty much at rock bottom. What got her to that point?

OK, so my story ending would result in a Debbie Downer story or the tale of a nymphomaniac. Neither is attractive. You make some good points, fuck-jannies. I need to modify my ending.

My current weakness is the beginning: how do you seduce a married woman in the parking lot of a store? I've tried having a man approach her, a couple approach her, and now I am working on the woman only approaching her. From your female perspective which is the better?

I would drop the meeting guy at the store. Maybe a guy she knows like at her job, he's a nice guy, good looking, but has a dark side she has no idea about.
