to set the scene.

In my current story I have Jenny lying in a nice warm bath after her infidelity with Ron.

She's feeling good, thoughts of how his cock really filled her fill her mind. She rubs her clit. Feeling better still. Ron had felt good.

Then a random thought about her husband pops into her mind.

It goes. She rubs on.

Ron had felt really good as she had slid up and down upon his cock.

Another thought about Paul.

The spell is broken. What do you do? Rub on for a quick, not very satisfactory orgasm or do you stop, leave the bath tub feeling frustrated and hope to re-capture the moment later.

more importantly....

What would your character do?

Every woman is different and we all do and respond in different ways.

I think what you need to do here is really examine your character's personality and state of mind and try to answer for yourself what would be the logical response for your character.

I agree entirely. I don't think anyone but Jenny can answer that--and if you don't know her well enough to predict her actions in a situation like this, she needs a character development stat.

If I were Jenny I'd probably go for the numb orgasm. But I'm Chicklet, not Jenny.

I'm a remarkably femenine male, and I can tell you my opinon, which counters chicklets, if I'm feeling guilty, it wins, and I either cry a bit, or just stop and try and cheer myself up by baking some cookies, or listening to nice music.

So, to simplify, I would begin to play, if I thought of my boyfriend that I just cheated on, I would stop instantly and think about what I'd done. (And yes, I am bi, so I can say boyfriend proudly, heh, but I'm with a girl, (6 months as of tomorrow ^_^))

on a serious note now;) i have to agree with wornout we're all different, i probably would do as i joked above, but some would go on a guilt trip, some would wank until they came, some would think fuck it and get out of the bath and go home as if all were normal or whatever. it's fiction hun, you can do as you feel appropriate.

Sorry, totally off topic but...

Rub? I've heard this before and it just sounds ridiculously clinical. I guess it's the equaivalent of, oh, 'piston' for a man. The only thing I ever rub is the inside of the toilet bowl, once a week with a good stiff brush.

I've fondled it, stroked it, massaged it and many other things, but I don't recall ever rubbing it. Perhaps I need a bigger pencil?

Me

One good thing is that my ex husband never enters my mind when I masturbate or having sex..lol. If I was Jenny I would stop though. Once the moment is lost it takes me a while to get it back. Nothing worse than a raw pussy.

cahab,
Rub would be a fairly common way to describe somebody's hands or fingers moving over their body in North America.

Are you perhaps English cahab? It is less common here for people to use the word rub as in, "to rub out a mistake" , because over here we call them erasers not rubbers.

'course that is just my opinion....and I am sorry if I misunderstood your confusion over the use of the word.

Paul,
I think it would be more interesting to leave Jenny frustrated. She might even deprive herself on purpose out of guilt.

Really? Yeesh.

Yes, I am english. But rubbing isn't just about pencils, it's a fairly vigorous motion of to objects against each other. I just don't like it as a way of describing that particular act.

If I'm alone in this, I apologise. I realise that we are a little short of suitable epithets (as previously discussed). I just hate that one.

Cahab, you're not alone and I'm not English. Rub rubs me the wrong way too, would never use the word to describe what I do or like done to my clit.

Don't ever aplogize for how you think, different words evoke different images for different people.

I am laughing because as you elaborate on what you think about when you read the word rubbing now I am developing issues with it. It is making think of someone using one of those old washboard thingys and scraping the clothes back and forth on it.

Whoops ... (have to go back and edit that submitted story .... no rubbing...)

*Mental note* watch more women masturbate*

Getting back to Paul's question, I think it comes down to who Jenny is. If she's a pure hedonist, she might just rub, er, continue on her merry way. If she's caught up in the guilt trip, it could make for an interesting conflict in the story. What if she can't reach climax because her husband keeps popping into her head? Whatever promotes the drama of the story and makes the character real is the best way to go.

I think the word Rub has a fairly corase connotation, rub out, rub the wrong way, rubbing til raw. Stroked or massaged would be more appropriate to such a sensitive area.

As for your character, she should tell you what she will do. You wrote her into this situation, so you must know enough about her to know how she would react. Every woman is different, and there is no magic bullet, nor are you likely to get a concensus from a poll. For me there comes a point in masturbating where I am not going to stop come hell, high water or the meter reader. I am past the point of caring, and my body is in control. Up until that point I might stop at the least unfamiliar sound in the appartment. Generally , I get lost in the fantasy part and outside concerns don't really intrude on the thought process.

If her guilt pangs are strong enough to intrude it would seem to me she would stop, but since I know my own habits, it would be hard for me to suspend my disbelief that anything would intrude if I were safely ensconed in the bathroom with the door locked and my mind free to wander.
