Mastectomies

I know that gals with mastectomies and amputations have sex. But I couldn't find any stories about it. So I wrote one. The first draft is 7K words. A guy fresh outta prison connects with a bisexual psychiatrist who treats mastectomy victims after the surgery. He fucks the MD, her patients, and homeless women. Its noire.

Any others writing about mastectomies?

I usta know a gal who hadda double mastectormy then posed for a calendar, nude. I still don't get the calendar deal but know she was an exhibitionist before.

I almost forgot.

MURDER AT THE NIGHTWOOD BAR by Katherine Forrest is a lesbian tale of two gals, one of them has a double mastectomy.

Written awhile back for a challenge thread in the Poetry Thread. It's in the book.

Elaborate Décolletage

The mirror reflects
their image
as they get ready
for a bittersweet celebration.
He carefully knots his tie.
She carefully knots her scarf
that hides the uneven stubble
of her ravaged head of hair.
Makeup cannot hide,
tentative smiles cannot hide
the pain expressed by their eyes,
especially from each other.

Once, getting dressed
called for innuendo
and for liberties taken,
with much laughter
and mock aggravation.
Sometimes,
never even making it
to their destination.
Tonight,
is filled with fragile silence;
tempered,
With concern and affection.

Seeking solitude,
she equips herself
with the trappings and harness
that she feels
gives the appearance
that she is still a woman.
She can no longer flaunt
what she no longer has.
An exquisite new dress,
bought special for this occasion,
drapes her now boyish figure
and hides her scars.

He compliments her beauty.
The delicate lace of her neckline
accentuates the fragile curves
of her neck and shoulders.
The ruby red of her dress
brighten the emerald green
of her eyes,
too big for her face.
But the real beauty that he sees
is the fiery passion deep inside,
is the love that she shares,
is her strength of mind and character.

It’s not the scars on her body
that bring tears to his eyes,
it’s not the lines where once
there were curves.
He would pay anything,
he would do anything
to erase the self-doubt,
to burn away scars
that have mutilated her soul,
to erase the fear from her eyes,
that she is no longer desirable,
that she is no longer a woman.

For women, this is a very difficult subject. Those who have had the procedure fight their shame and horror. Those who haven't live with the terror it could happen. One woman I know who has had it likens it to a man having his penis removed, only this shows. Prosthesis and orthotic devices don't give a woman confidence. Every time she takes a shower, gets dressed, looks in a mirror, she knows it's gone.

To write about it in an erotic or pornographic way would be most uncomfortable for most, I would think.

I believe you.

People naturally shun problems. We don't wanna deal with any of it. But I like the idea of adding a problem to a story, for the character to solve. I don't know how to cope with mastectomy, feedback is tough to get, so I punted. My character gets drunk enough and spends the night with a man the doctor sleeps with. And he doesn't care cuz he's into pussy not tits. That happens to be my bias in bed. Little or no tits is no problem for me. And there aint shit I can do about what a woman experiences inside her head. I said something similar to a BBW yesterday. I told her her size is a problem for her not me.

I understand about the feedback. My good friend had a double mastectomy when she was just 31. She always spent her summers in a bikini, but even after the reconstruction, she never wears a swimsuit, and never talks about the event or the fallout. I believe it's more intimate to a woman than speaking of even her darkest sexual desires. This is something that changes everything, and psychologically, can be damning.

Sure. I get it. There are a couple of articles with interview snippets of how life changing mastectomies are, but not many. I s'pose its even worse if youre lesbian and your lover rejects you. I find no mention of it anywhere.

Its something guys wont ever know. Many lose the use of their genitals, but the genitals remain. Losing breasts is prolly like losing your face.

Well, my friend's husband left her because of it. He's a shallow prick, though.

Guys can and have had breast cancer requiring a mastectomy. The odds of a male having to have a mastectomy are on the rise thanks to our food growers, be they produce suppliers or meat suppliers.
With the introduction of growth hormones into our food supply, our children are starting puberty as early as age 8. Boys are forming breast tissue that looks a lot like that of girls. Some men I have seen shirtless have had larger breasts than some women. These men were not over weight but rather part of the younger generation.

Girls as young as age 11 have found lumps in their breasts that the doctor had to remove. One girl I know of at age 15 had to have a double mastectomy.

So what youre saying is, you haven't had a mastectomy nor do you know anyone who has, but you do know of people with big tits.

I posted the story. Its sequel is: PRISON PUSSY HAS NO TITTIES, EITHER.

When I was in college - summer of 1980 - I visited my friend at his mom's beach house. She had had a double mastectomy many years ago. We had quite a fling! She taught me to explore, worship, and cherish her body. She enjoyed having me come on her scars then having me lick them clean. She was divorced.

Males have less problems with mastectomies than lesbians do. No tits is the kiss of death with a girlfriend.

Did I read correctly that Angelina Jolie had a double mastectomy [in case she got cancer??].
She was lauded in our papers for her bravery at the publicity (I cannot recall whether her man made any comments), and it has fomented some discussion in women's circles.
But then, not a lot is said about re-constructive surgery.

PS.
One though though.
With the modern dress being slim, a lack of boobs might be of advantage. . .

Girls wanna see boobs, guys wanna see pussy.

Its a theme that appears in lesbian tales. When the blouse comes off the honey is off.

She tested positive for the gene that causes breast cancer and did a pre-emptive removal to better safeguard her health. What her man thought of it should not enter into the equation, but one would hope he supported her determination not to die of the same disease that has killed so many other women.

Incredibly I spotted a woman sun bathing topless on a beach in France this summer and she'd had a mastectomy

I'm not sure I could read a story that involved a mastectomy. My grandmother had a butchered job in the 60s, which she showed me in the 80s. I was horrified. It took a while to control the trembling, tears, and outrage. She ended up dying of breast cancer a few years later.

VarianP wrote a really good one on this topic called "Hurt," but now you have to buy it.

Somewhere around here I have a photo book of childrens autopsies. I've seen a few adult autopsies. And prolly the coolest operation I ever observed was the facial reconstruction of an 18 month old girl.

Her facial bones were a mess. The surgeons cut her scalp from ear to ear, then pushed the front scalp and face off the skull. That done, they cut all the bones loose, then put them back at the right places so all was properly located when the face and scalp covered it all. Amazing to watch.

Pediatric cardiovascular surgeries are fascinating, too.

45 years ago I worked plenty of car wrecks as a fireman. Blood and gore don't affect me.
