Details appear to be sketchy.

The gunman appears to be dead, along with many victims.

No clue whether this was a hate crime, jealous boyfriend, or just random craziness.

Sad story.

This is the first that I am hearing of it being a gay night club...

Do you mean "happy place?

The arseholes have already started up with the "if homosexuality wasn't legal this wouldn't have happened."

Okay, they just said it finally...

Gay.

The only gay guy I knew who got shot and died was in the process of trying to pick up some street vermin who was in the process, unbeknownst to my friend, of robbing him.

Local police chief reports that "many lives were lost" in the incident.

Police would not confirm the number of dead at this time but said "multiple people" had died in the shooting at the Pulse club.

He added that 42 people had been taken to hospital.

The local sheriff has described the shooting as a "domestic terror incident".

Not a controlled explosion.

Distractionary devices...

;) ;)

FBI spokesman promised a slow, methodical investigation.

No, this is serious.

Some of the police spokespeople seemed to be hinting around a terrorist attack, but it is way too soon to jump to that conclusion, but with up to 100 rounds expended, the shooter clearly showed up with bad intentions in mind.

Approximately 20 dead.

Hopefully you can come up with a funny one-liner about that, Lance.

An interesting notion to consider. What if, and I'm not suggesting that this is true, the shooter turns out to have a name such as Mohammed al Akbar? Will it be classified as 'domestic terrorism, plain ole garden variety 'terrorism', or merely a case of 'work place violence?' The word 'terrorism', like the words 'racism' and 'weapons of mass destruction' before it, are stretched to the limits of credulity. Bureaucratic sensationalism layered on top of an already horrific event. Building the notion that one form of murder is ever so much worse than another form of murder.

Apparently the cops had a guy in the club when the gunman opened up. He "exchanged fire" with the gunman. I'm gonna bet at least some of the 20 dead were shot by the cop.

Too soon to speculate. I'm assuming that a fair amount of people are hoping and praying that this was a white "conservative." It might even be too soon to say that, but I think it will be a thought running through the heads of many people.

What an asshole. If you are not happy with your life, jump off a cliff, shoot yourself in the head, take a bottle of pills, drink a gallon of anti freeze, get creative and kill yourself. Just leave others out of it.

Now the press will likely say the shooter was depressed, had a history of mental illness and try to garner pity on the "poor mistreated individual" My thoughts remain the same, stable or unstable, take yourself out of the equation if you are so miserable but leave the rest of the world alone.
