Overheard at restaurant last night, man in next booth talking: "Since my wife left me, I sleep like a baby...I wake up every two hours, crying."

So, how have YOU used humor to cope with life's painful situations?

I am sad and depressed most of the time, but hardly anyone knows it. I just laugh and smile a lot to cover it up without saying much of anything at all.

I don't deal with it very well, as a child I buried it deep and never delt with it at all.

I am on Prozac for my OCD so that helps and I had a really good shrink helping with the OCD and anything else that popped up but our insurance changed so now I have to find a new one.

"Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you cry alone."

Isn't that the saying? or some such?

I do a bit of both, I suppose. Crying just makes your eyes all puffy and your nose all runny...and it's hard to sing when you're crying...

Hell yes. I believe The Truth About Tiggs, one of my several depression threads, goes into detail about that.

Sure it has sometimes been the only thing to keep my sanity in tact. Even did the same thing as you overheard.....only I wasn't eating to go along with it.

Humor is a key element for all of us in my opinion, sometimes you just have to find a way to laugh at the curveballs that life throws you.
