Okay, I surrender. The X-Men threads seem beyond resuscitation, so I will (somehow) make the time to run a thread for the very first time. If anyone wants to play the part of any Marvel-based character in a Marvel-Universe based thread, please send me an email, or post here. The thread will begin Saturday morning, to give people time to contact me. I would ask that people stick to existing Marvel characters, if at all possible. It would make it a LOT easier for me to present appropriate challenges if I know the character well, and I know Marvel characters well enough. ;)

If everyone wants to play X-Men, that's fine. Whatever Marvel characters you like. If you need any help at all, please email me. Thank you all, and here's looking forward to a really good story!

PS: Villains also welcome! Prefer already existing ones, but if that is too limiting, please let me know what you have in mind.

Hey, what can I say other than I'm in. This sounds like an excellent thread to be a part of.

"Hey bub, I hear you are looking for Marvel people."

Wolverine ready for battle. *shink*

New information

Due to popular demand... well, advice from a more experienced member of the Lit family... the actual rp thread will be on the SRP board. This thread will serve as an OOC thread, if needed. Please look for the game thread to begin, as planned, Saturday morning, on the SRP board.

So far, we have Spiderman and Wolverine. As more players announce their intent, I'll update the posted roster.

Current roster maintained in first post.

hey.......

Well my infamous character Lava is pretty well known....um...otherwise I can take storm...it will be wierd without Pooh as spiderman though.....that is if youw ill let me join.....what do you think of which character?

I wood like to join to but I dont now whot person to pick I wood like to stay as nighray but if you whont I can be som one els I'm not sher who thow.

LAVAGODDESSS:
Well, I never could say no to a beautiful woman. ;)
Welcome aboard!

I'd prefer Storm, but Lava is do-able. Actually, there ARE a few Marvel characters with powers very similar to Lava's: a villainess (sort of) with fire-based powers; a Herald of Galactus named Nova, who has Silver Surfer level fire powers; and a former member of the New Mutants, who actually controlled lava and earth. I'm obviously fuzzy on a couple of their names, but I can find more info pretty quickly. Your Lava could easily take any of their places in my version of the Marvel universe. Could you send me an explanation of Lava's powers, if you choose to play her?

Nightray: Welcome, as well!
I'd suggest checking out the official Marvel website for info on characters, or you could pick anyone from the XMen movie. If you send me a description of Nightray's powers, I will do my best to find an existing character to fit you.

Storm it is...

The delectable white eyed, tantalizing good-two-shoes, Storm. I'll take her....and Cause I wanna be a baddy....too....I'll be Elektra....as the baddy...if it is k with you oh mighty Neale...

Mighty? Maybe...

Our first villainess, as well! You are too kind, milady. Thank you, very much. Anything goes with the villains, since they are always cropping up with new ones, anyway :)

You'd think their prisons would be stacking them in the hallways, as many as get caught by the various heroes. Good thing for their prison system that the bad guys are so good at escaping.

btw: The Storm you see on tv and movies ISN'T the Storm in the comics. She is anything but a goody-two shoes. In the late 80s/early 90s, she cut her hair into a mohawk, wore a lot of leather, and thoroughly stabbed an enemy who also thought she didn't have the guts to do it. The lady is seriously tough.

Is it alright if I play a villian to because I would love to play as Kingpin- if he is still a villian

Kingpin, check!
Punisher certainly qualifies, but I suspect it would be hard to work him in with the rest. He is kinda wanted by the authorities, after all. Also, while he is a an awesome character, all he does is kill criminals. Supervillains are a bit out of his league. Still, if you want to give him a shot, go for it!

Kingpin, Electra, and Punisher all come from the same circle I thought... So it all would mesh... He is basicly Marvel's equivalent of batman IMHO...

I know......

I knew that Storm is one of the best x-men, he powers...etc...I was just simply stating she would remain a good guy, I know she was tough. She is a pickpocket among other of her 'skills'. And oooooooo ravenloft...we get to all be part of a love triangle? wait.......

neale did you want bios and pics in here?

Site for information

The official Marvel site is: http://www.marvel.com
They aren't very deep on information, but it is a good starting point for those unfamiliar with the universe in question. I'll try to keep the history in line with current Marvel comics, in terms of who's currently dead, allied with whom, etc. However, when our thread diverges from their storylines, our storyline takes precedence.

Lava? You know the lady Storm well, indeed. I must confess a somewhat chauvinistic assumption that most women are not 'into' comics, and thought that your knowledge was based solely on the tv/movies. Mea Culpa!

I'll try to find some more informative sites later today.

I'd love to play She Hulk! I'd also be willing to double as a villian... mabey the Green Goblin or Doc. Oc.? I haven't read comics for a few years, but I used to be fanatic about them so I remeber the character personalities at least :)

I, too, will do double duty if that is okay. I will take Psylocke for my heroine-a lady reccomended by a very good friend of mine and his fav in the marvel comics.

I will also play Mystique from the X men...I will try my best as I used to be quite up on Marvel comix but it has been awhile since I opened one...

Marvel?!? Cool. I'm in if you're still looking.

I'm up to playing the Black Cat since you seem to be on the east coast. Got anyone to play my Spider-boy-toy? :)

Another good idea from our longtime posters

It would probably be a great help to each other if we posted bios and pics for our characters. Certainly not required, but if you can manage it (just copy from the Marvel website for most), please do. A tip of the hat to the lovely whose suggestion this was! Been a busy day for me, so I'm a little slow catching up to things. If it seems that I've forgotten to post your character and name in the 'official' list, that means that I very well may have. Just send me a reminder, an ye please.

Bold request

I'm not overly keen on having Professor X around at all, to be quite honest with you. The world's strongest telepath can really mess up a storyline without even trying. As for Magento, I'm willing to give you a shot at him. Are you very familiar with his character from the comic books, or are you basing it on the movie version?

Neale, just to help you out.....with the thread and all participants...

Double characters are not ussually a good idea. The characters get caught up into a plot twist and you only devote half of your time to each. It also unbalances the male/female ratio. I am playing two fems because that is what I am used to, sort of like a split personality....But the female/male ratio is seriously out of whack....and You need to devote twice as much to each character. In my past experience, I have noticed that one character sort of dies out, or the posts are half-hearted. Just a suggestion...people, one character is always more than enough....sometimes, double characters cause the death of a thread.

I will post my bio on the next post...or this post is too long.

Surprised!

Y'know, I hadn't noticed before, but you are right; there are a LOT more women than men who've stated intentions to join the thread. I really hadn't expected so many wonderful women to take part in a comic-book based thread. My preconceptions of the appeal of comics are taking a serious beating, here. ;)
Still, I suspect that, once people see how skewed the F/M ratio is, we may get a few more guys to join in the fun!

Saturday morning, I'll take a final pre-start look at the characters, and start the thread. Remember, please, that it will be on the SRP, not the ORP. If anyone feels up to posting their bios, please do. I've checked the Marvel website bios, and they include every character here, I believe.

I'm amazingly flattered by the response to this thread idea, and am very much looking forward to weaving a terrific story with you all.

LAVA

I emailed Neale, and let him know that I was going to play the Thing as a part time character. I know how rough it is with double characters.

PS, Hey LAVA, :p
