Mars Attacks was released in 1962, and told an outrageous story of the invasion of Earth by cruel, hideous Martians. Scenes depicted usually showed the bizarre methods of attack, torture and slaughter the Martians used. They included being fired at with rayguns, attacked by Martian-controlled giant robots and insects, and flying saucers.
The cards, were inspired by a combination of an old "Weird Science" comic book cover showing a large-brained alien coming out of a flying saucer and H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds" story. Mankind's desperate fight for survival and eventual victory wasn't, but some how they managed. This is my role playing take on this sci-fi classic.

Well ready to take up the fight yet? I ran this thread once before and had a lot of fun, but I have learned a few things since than and I hope the friends I have made here, and others want to come have fun and fight some alien invaders.
The game starts in a small city in the Midwest called Springfield. It has two colleges, a sports stadium, a good hospital, a few malls, churches, and everything else you would expect in a generic city of its size. There is also an airport and a nation guard base. Now I would like everyone to start in Springfield so it is easier to hookup, but I'm willing to talk.
I am willing to let each writer have 2 or more characters if it fits the storyline, but be realistic. I doubt there is a neurosurgeon and navy seal couple just passing through. Ordinary people need to take on the Martians and frankly I think it will be more interesting. That is not to say people can't play soldiers, police officers, fire fighters, and other action careers.
The aliens will be striking late afternoon early evening during the week so we will pickup things from there...last time around my players had characters that included a well armed sci-fi fan, a hard living cowboy, a Buddhist who worked as a professional wrestler, and a season female police officer. So, feel free to work at a convenience store, drive a truck, work on Harley's or be a stay at home mom. You will all be necessary to survive this fight.
