At age 58, I know that for me, marriage does not necessarily mean living together. It does mean a committment to support and respect each other; to listen and remember what I have heard. It means patiience, understanding and compromise. It means intimacy and fidelity.

The best part of learning all these things is that I can and do share them with my children. If only there had been someone to have shared these things with me. <sigh>

Blue, perhaps you have started a new tradition with your children. Perhaps they will be more open and sharing with their children and so on. A part of you will be carried on through the next generations.

Although, it is always nice to have experienced the same feelings you are passing on. Be proud you have children who are open to listening and heeding your wisdom.
