That happened to me, we had an "emotional" affair for many years. Was tough for her as she still loved her late husband too.

Both widowers, so that's different (as in no cheating), but one of my grand uncles one day soon after his wife's death was walking through the cemetery and stopped wondering at a fresh grave with his exact name on the temporary wooden cross... for long enough for the young widow to arrive by his side. They married just a year later. And yes, she outlived him too.
