Married and living the life of a single

I would like to see a story maybe a series about a husband forced to live the life of a single. He has been married 33 years and his wife recently had to go into a nursing home with Dementia. He refuses to divorce her. It’s not her fault. He wants to have sex in his life but finds it difficult in his situation. There could chapters about the various ways he attempts to meet and be intimate with women from online dating to volunteering. I could provide story ideas for anyone interested in this story topic.

Has this story idea been considered before?

This is a common issue in old age homes these days. I have personal experience with family and clients and the issues falling out of it.

Like any tragedy you have to let the silver lining emerge from the misery. I wrote one story a couple of years ago that has yet to see the light of day. I've been holding it back because I didn't like the way it ran. There is good fodder in the subject for stories, just like cancer, or car accidents or...?

I mean, I can see how someone would probably read such story for drama/plot. I personally dislike the genre myself, but I could see people reading this for the story itself.

As an erotic story though? I don't think it brings anything to the table. Your story doesn't have anything that uniquely benefits from sex descriptions and nudity aspects. It could as well be a standard romantic drama.
And as for erotic parts themselves - your drama would distract the reader from really enjoying them. Silver linings or not. So there's no erotic value to be had, no arousal/wank material to be had, and frankly, I don't see the plot benefiting at all. In fact, your erotic scenes may end up actually harming the story while being harmed themselves by it before they even begin. The two parts fall into dissonance with each other.

Well the drama and or romantic aspects of it would feature largely in any story like that and the (perhaps) spouses suffering from dementia or dread disease minimized. Arousal, well I'm not sure why that couldn't work. I get that it may be disturbing to some people, but you can never please all of them anyway.

On another note Nezhul, I re-read the specimen the other day. I read it back in 2015. It was an awesome story and well worth 5*.

Which brings me to a question I've wondered about.

How does a Russian have such freaking awesome English skills?

I would see you as a native English speaker based on your writing, but then see you live in Russia. I apologize if that's too personal, but they say the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. Pm if it's not something you want to answer on the board. It's ok too if you don't want to answer period. But I just had to ask

Well, about 15 years ago I started playing WoW. But there were no Russian servers, and I learned to interact in English.
Then I started reading Manga, and found out that Russian translations were HORRENDOUS. At pretty much the same time I realized that Russian movie dubs were actually even worse, despite being made by professional studios. I switched to English manga translations and movies with English dub + subtitles. In time, I scratched the subtitles.
About 10 years ago I stopped reading books in Russian, because again, if you compare our translations to original they are like heaven and earth. In fact, I know only 1 book that is better in translation than original, and it is Harry Potter, surprisingly.
In addition, a lot of stories simply have NO Russian translation. And I wanted to read them. The only way to do that is in English.

Anyway, this all boils sown to me reading a lot, and interacting only on English forums (because I find the community friendlier than Russian one).
And there you have it. I'm basically exposed to English on a daily basis, sometimes even more than I'm exposed to Russian. I don't even visit Russian parts of the net, pretty much - I even google in English and ahve my google and youtube preferences set up to English. Rinse and repeat for 10 years, and anyone would probably be good enough.
By this point, I've probably read at least twice as many English words than I did Russian ones in my entire life.

Add to that me consciously trying to improve as a writer, and often reading style articles and trying to note how good writers use their words and mimic them - and you got what you see.

I'm still amking a lot of typos on forums and wrong tenses or make other mistakes. But I normally catch them when I re-read and edit them out. That's why I'm often edit my post once or twice.

Well your English is superb. You must have a real aptitude for languages. I kind of pride myself on being able to tell where someone lives by the type of English they use but yours had me totally fooled. I would have gone with North America, but when I saw you were in Russia I assumed you grew up here and moved.
