Marriage Equality in Washington State!

Well, here's some icing on the cake!

Just moments ago, the Washington State House passed a same-sex marriage equality bill 55-43. The bill was debated for just over two hours, and Republicans attempted to attach several anti-gay or hurdle amendments, but those failed, as they did last week when the Washington State Senate passed the bill. Washington Governor Christine Gregoire, who initiated the marriage bills, will sign it into law.

On a side note, You know how the Defense of Marriage[sic] Prop8 folks didn't want the trial transcripts to be made public? The quotes from the dissenting politicians in that blog post? That's just about what the transcripts are. That's why they don't want them made public, because there was absolutely no substance to their arguments.

Arguing for Equality on both sides of the aisle

Just to show not all Republicans are voting against Marriage Equality (it's a republican and a democrat together after all, who've been fighting to overturn Prop 8), here is this marvelous video from Washington of the representative from Walla-Walla arguing for the passage of the marriage equality act.

It's really, simply, wonderful.
