Mark Twain on Spelling Reform

I recently re-read Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn (you can sue me for political incorrectness later), both are excellent works, even more so in the use of the language and dialect which I consider to be Twain's true mark of mastery, the ability to communicate clearly to every reader, while using the language of the South.

Interestingly, I played "Tom Sawyer" in a school play. In a girl's school, the fight to play Becky Thatcher is intense, and I lost. It could have been worse, I could have been stuck with Injun Joe. (Ha Susie! Take that!)

Thanks for the BlackSnake ... I laughed out loud while I read the article. I forgot how humourous Mark Twain was.

And kbate ... I think you would have made an excellent Tom Saywer. I'd whitewash a fence for you anytime. ;)
