Good, bad, indifferent? Leagalize it?

I just rented Traffic.....good movie.

IMHO, I think marijuana should be legalized; let the government tax and regulate the hell out of it, and put money toward keeping harder stuff illegal.

After all, from what I can see, legalization is a threat to no one but big tobacco.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone thinks so.

There was a similar thread just recently put on the board. Let me see if I can find it...

For it

Dont smoke it anymore myself, and havent in the last 7 years.
But thats only becasue if I use it, It spanws a craving for harder stuff as well. And I'd rather go without that.

However, as far as dope goes. Hell legalize it.

Never done it. Probably never will. Just not my styel. I don't mind if others want to, just don't want it around me or my kids. :)

this afternoon for me, before my daily relaxation ritual involving steamy water and my favorite battery operated bath toy:p

NOT FOR ME

i don`t care for it.where i live you can see it about anywhere.i could care less as long as it is not around me.it kills brain cells.

I've tried it once, didn't like it but I have no problems with people who smoke it as long as they respect my decision not to be around it. I know people who are addicted to marijuana. I would have no problem with the government legalizing it or any drug. I believe it would cut down on alot of the violence we're seeing now in our neighborhoods. I haven't done enough research on the subject to be too sure of that opinion.

I hear you, BB. I've date men who smoked blunts for a living - they didn't last me very long. I don't get what the attraction is of smoking it all day long - for me its once in a great while that I'll do it, if ever.

It is VERY relaxing though.

I'd rather just get drunk - it tastes better.

I'm also the type of cigarette smoker that won't smoke around non-smokers even outside. I just don't feel right forcing people to inhale my smoke just because I want one.

Never used it; never will, BUT...

I agree it should be legalized. But so should the rest. And the government should not be able to regulate it as they should not be able to regulate alcohol, tobacco or anything else in a free society.

The individual's right to choose is either protected or it's not and when government can deny one aspect of your freedom to choose, it can deny any other just as easily.

The last info I had on drug prices (3-4 years ago and I doubt it's changed significantly) was that the cost in jail/prison is essentially the same as on the street. If the Drug War can't keep drugs from people who are imprisoned, why do these moronic politicians keep trying to convince us they can stop drug availability in a free society?

As far as the harder drugs, the sum total of deaths from their ingestion annually is about 5-10% of those deaths from alcohol and tobacco. So saving lives is obviously a lie when that's the rationale used to justify the Drug War. Were saving lives important to the politicos, then tobacco and alcohol would have to be under prohibition also.

It's not a war on drugs, it's a war on your freedom.
