Margaret Atwood on Anne of Green Gables

Oh i love the anne of green gables books and the movies. When we were in canada on an excursion they stopped at this shop that sold all kinds of anne of green gables things and I came away with a cookbook. Why I needed a cookbook? No reason whatsoever other than it went with those lovely books I had so nicely.

I read the book (and its sequels) as a child, but all in German. I thought they were pretty good, although I think they probably lost a bit of their charm in translation. I'll have to try and find them in English, and read them over the summer.

I adore the first two movies with Colleen Dewhurst. "Kindred Spirits" is just part of my vocabulary. I'm always looking for them.

My best friend took a cruise to Nova Scotia and brought me back and little Green Gables ornament. That's what my house used to look like, and I hope to somebody return it to that level of country farmhouse.

Anne was a staple of my childhood! I still have the copies of her books I read... and read... and re-read... they're all falling apart! :)

The whole series is wonderful... and I loved the first two movies as well... the perfect Anne Shirley, and Matthew and Marilla... the best casting evah!

I'm now reading it, and I'm really into it. Even though it's a kid's book it's a lot more adult than anything I've read on literotica, frankly.

The trouble with all the stuff here is the fuck bits, which disrupt the narrative.

My daughter went to Prince Edward Island on one day of her belated honeymoon just so she and her new husband could do the "Anne of Green Gables" thing.

She enjoyed it except that, in retrospect, she felt it was slightly too much of a theme park.

They enjoyed touring part of Canada in a large RV. Other places they visited appealed to them both.

I was curious to see what it looked like, so I looked at some web sites. The countryside reminds me of Britain more than I thought it would.
