This is the place. Post what you want. Tell that someone here at Lit what you want to do with them. No repurcusions allowed from something done during a Mardi Gras party. So be bold; it just has to be friendly and in the party spirit.

As an alternative, you could answer these questions instead should if you desire:
If you were at a Mardi Gras party what would you do that you would not normally do at a party? Would you flash? Give away your underware? Passionately kiss a stranger? Get completely wasted?

Would you ever attend a Mardi Gras party?

Lived in New Orleans all of my life. Mardi Gras is not as big an event as the rest of the country thinks.

That is the one day when everyone has permission to piss on people's front porch, in their alley, and in front of the many businesses on Canal Street and throughout the French Quarters.

It's the one day that allows all fags to come out of the closet and dress as they wish or walk the street semi-nude, whichever they prefer.

It's the one day that allows all of the tourists to get as drunk as they wanna be.

What more can I say but.....A La Bon Ton Roula'!! (I have no idea if it's spelled right)

That's basically it, CL (although I've more frequently heard "Laissez les bon temps roulet"), and there are so few people here who speak cajun French anymore that no one will know the difference. ;)

And GuyJD is right about the ambivalence New Orleanians have for Mardi Gras and Carnival. Around this time every year the city swells to double its normal size, accomodating around a million visitors whose primary purpose is to drink, dance, revel, watch parades, and expose various parts of their anatomy for beads. I personally love Mardi Gras.

But I'm glad it only comes once a year.

That's it, I think Dark Angel and LAVA and a few other here can confirm. Allez, means "Go" Laissez means "Let" hence Laissez les bon temps roulet or, in terms of Economics "Laissez-faire"

The entire sentence means "Let the Good Times Roll" in French.

Laissez . . . that's what the word was. Thank you.

I've never been to New Orleans, and, frankly, never felt a need to go there, particularly during Mardi Gras. Far too many people for me to be comfortable.

However, for those celebrating, I hope you have a wonderful time and have lots to confess -- Shrove Tuesday, remember? -- and nothing to regret.

Well, I'll buck the trend

I would love to go to New Orleans and Mardi Gras. I would want to say that I experienced it once in my life. I would not regret anything I would do there as long as it was legal.

Just returned from New Orleans; spent Saturday through Monday in the "Big Easy"; couldn't hang around for "Fat Tuesday"; had business in Miami that couldn't wait..

Anyway, always enjoy Mardi Gras, it's a hell raising good time; you learn to expect the unexpected and you won't be disappointed..this was my 5th Mardi Gras, hope it isn't my last; but suppose I'll out grow it someday..

If you get a chance to go, I would recommend it--

Vlad

Que veut dire une example en anglais? I was trying to give another example of the use of the "Laissez" I'm well aware of what it means:)
