For many years I've been asking the palace (MANU and the QUEEN) if they could tell us what exactly a VIEW was. And I wasn't alone in asking this question. However our requests have unfortunately been met with deaf royal ears. I never understood why they'd produce a VIEW figure for every story but never define the term. Seemed stupid to me...

Anyway when I saw MANU using the term "page views" on another thread today (second quote below) I thought we might finally have the answer - a VIEW is registered for every page viewed. Eureka!

Alas, browsing upwards I saw that on another post he refers to the "story views counter". WTF! How many counters does he have?

So how about it MANU?

Could you once and for all define what a VIEW represents in this LITEROTICA world?

[QUOTE MANU] If you are seeing less views and the same number of comments/votes, then it could be a problem with our story views counter - so please let me know if that looks like the case.

[QUOTE MANU] I'll be happy to look further into the stats, but I just double checked page views over the last six months and they are very steady. If there is any change, it's that people are looking at more story pages, not less.

Story views counter and page views are two different things.

When someone or something (Bots ect) opens a story, that is a view. It's so simple even you should be able to understand it.

Page views are the views for the different pages on Lit. Lit is made up of pages. So the average of page views represents the traffic across Lit.
