Another thread about clothing prompted me to write the following there. Then I realized I wrote way too much about one little question. So here in all it's glory is the original post just waiting for your comments and opinions. You're a man, you can change, if you have to
Most of my life I've worn men's short shorts. Women loved them and I was used to wearing them. While living in Florida we were in the boonies so I was either nude or wearing short shorts. To wear them to town and on vacations was normal. In fact many men down south wore short shorts.
Then I noticed more gay men were wearing them and getting giggles. Soon the locals and rednecks were wearing knee length shorts, jeans, or bib overalls, even in hot weather. I suffered through the giggles and comments because I was comfortable.
After moving back to Illinois I only had a few pair of longer short shorts, still 6" or more above the knee. Here 99% of the men and boys wear shorts below the knee. Only gay guys wear short shorts and usually it's easy to tell their sexual preference.
Not knocking gays or lesbians, I don't care who loves who or what. But I was feeling uncomfortable in my short shorts and long short shorts. Now I am literally uncomfortable keeping in style wearing knee length shorts.
So I bought a few pair of knee length WallyWorld shorts cheap, like $10 a pair. It's what men who wear shorts here wear, the neighbors, young and old wear, and my oldest best friend wears. Knee length shorts are not kool or cool. Besides that, the damned things have an uncomfortable mesh liner.
Hell I wore thin bikinis without a liner for most of my life and short shorts that let the head of my penis slip out. If you're a man and never tried this don't knock it. If you've never worn a bikini or short shorts in public you're really not a manly man. Men wear what they want where they want. Not something women tell you to wear or some gay clothing designer creates.
As an example, watch the news and weather. Male weather persons wear a suit and tie, sometimes even a vest. He points and uses a clicker to change the maps.
The weather gals wear pretty much what they wear when shopping: low cut tight sweaters, blouses, mini skirts, and more to accentuate their weather reporting skills as they dance around the weather map making hand gestures and smile.
Same on the job and in the office. Sure there are dress codes. But how many men can sit at a desk with their shoes off and their legs exposed to the hip? Men are forced to be uncomfortable and manly.
To keep in style, several weeks ago WallyWorld had $4 knee length shorts. I hate them but since I'm older than dirt, I try to fit in now that we are away from the beach and cool people. I just bought some more knee length $4 shorts.
I went from none to at least a dozen knee length shorts of all "manly" colors. Nothing pink, pastel, or flowery!
I still think it's silly that men wear long shorts and bathing suits sometimes even longer while women can wear cheek showing shorts and thong type bikinis.
Life ain't fair and men are stupid for wearing what's in style rather than what's comfortable and being able to tan without terrible tanlines.
So far our only advantage is most places we can still go topless. Although many blouses, dresses, and bathing suits even in public places are as close to topless as possible.
Let's hear your manly and feminine opinions.
