Due to lack of numbers, this meet is now CANCELLED.

Sorry everyone.

Hey all,

I've been thinking about having a lit meet up north for a while and now I've moved house and life is settling in to some what of a routine I can actually think about it properly and begin organising it!

Firsty....who's interested?

secondly when is the best time? I was thinking very roughly, that some time in spring would be good, far enough away from Christmas but before the madness of summer holidays begins.

Is this doable for anyone? Do we need to have it in term time or in school/uni holidays?

Once we've sorted out this, we'll go onto the where's and wherefores *grins*

Dates: 29th June 2007-1st July 2007

Let's go for it.
For us, holidays aren't an issue, but would definitely need it to be a weekend, as hopefully both Mrs. Gosling and will be working by then.

Are you thinking of in a city, or out of the city, country style maybe??

Well, the wonder of manchester and it's surrounding area is that you can quite happily do both :)

I was thinking it would be a weekend and I was thinking we could do a day in the metropolis if folks wanted, and I was thinking we could do some time in the countryside too...there are some gorgeous parks in the area....Lyme park and tatton park to mention just two.

And My dad is a Pub Landlord *grins* In a lovely little country setting near another gorgeous park -Etherow country park :)

Sounds good to me....one day, plus evening in the city (although I'm not sure about Saturday night in Manchester !!), and Sunday out in the park area, with lunch at dad's pub. Perfick!!

Sounds pretty good to me, too. I have to say it's a while since I've been in Manchester on a Saturday night, but whenever I did visit it was pretty nice actually :)

OK, let's start the ball rolling.

Providing the dates chosen are ok, then count in me and the missus.

That's 2.

Depends on the taxman

I'm in the middle of a battle with the taxman.

If they win - I'm broke for most of 2007.

If I win, then Manchester might be possible.

If we compromise? Who knows?

Og

It will depend on when my uni exams are and whether I have any money, but provisionally count me in.

Same premises goes for me. Sans missus. At least sans any missus that I know of now. But who knows? ;)

Might be worth sending out group pms to all the Brits.......they might not all see the thread. Hmmmm??

Haldir, Hotchkiss, Fifty5, Kendo, Scheh, Vana, Fem, Just legal, AlexdeKok, Gauchecritic, Tatelou, Lewdandlicentious, Pops54, Geronimo Appleby, Subjoe.....I have one or two othe names, but they haven't been around for quite some time, so probably not worth including.

And don't forget our nearby Euro Ah-ers who came to the last one.....Liar has already said 'yes', must include BT.....maybe Lauren would care to join us??

Indeed.

Our whole process of meeting, falling, committing and getting together was just over a year....and that included all the damn beauracracy that kept us on tenderhooks for months.

I shall certainly send a group PM to all those mentioned...and any more that leap to mind. we'll have to work at keeping this thread bumped so many people see it :)

So we have (provisionally)

Mrs&Mrs Gosling
Liar
The Earl
English Lady (obviously *L*) and Hubby.

And Ogg if the taxman doesn't win.

A good start I think. (heh, just typo'd Start as "tart" *L*)

Now Mr The Earl..when (ish) are those exams? we'll avoid the exam period at all costs.

how does march/april strike people?

Sounds like it could be fun, it would be good to meet more Lit peeps than the two I live with ;) (Actually we have met another one, but she doesn't post, she only joined to read the stories & look at my & LL's pics, & she's in the US anyway!).

Definitely the more the merrier!! :D :nana:

It's not as if Manchester is hard to get to from here, after all! Even though we usually only see it on the way to the airport ;)

Which isn't that inspiring..especially in a car *L*

Manchester is a gorgeous city. Plenty to do, too. Museums all over the shop (and free entry too!) The Manchester Museum has a wonderful Egyptology section...Urbis is just, weird and The science and industry museum is much fun -trains, planes, factory machines and more.

So if people get bored of shopping, we could check out a museum. :)

Baby is due on the 14th of February . . .

It might be difficult for me this time around (but don't count me out - depending on how the pregnancy goes and which dates are chosen and how old the baby is and... ) but, I want to add that London is also a good option. We have quite a bit of space (when all the kids have been removed) and there are some developments at the moment in terms of properly between Fem and myself - if all goes as planned, we should be living one road away from each other.

Please keep that in mind as something to think about for the future :)

Well, I was thinking March/April...'cos I'm guessing Mr The Earl's Exams will be May time... OR we could go after the exam period (mid june I'd think) but we'll have to see what folks want.

If, in the future you wanna do a london lit meet I am sure it would go down a storm, I'd love to do that :)

We'll count you as a maybe in, dependant on circumstances (you're in good company, Og is under the same heading *L*)

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *takes breath* EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

*Wheezes*

Yeah, Manc is sooooo darn close to me. Give LitTogether!

And Ogg - hope you can make it - you still owe me Steak and WKD :)

Dunno on the fiance tho, we'll see how he is. And any time apart from May is good. Exams are ebil.

I owe. I know.

The taxman thinks I owe 5 figures and the first digit isn't close to 1.

I'd kill my accountant if I could find him...

Og

JL -yay! Another one :nana:

it will not be near exams, definitely not. We've not got a precise idea of timeframe yet....but we'll work that out when everyone says when they can/can't do :D

Og -good luck, love!

Once LL sees that there'll be no stopping her! She loves ancient Egypt & I almost had to drag her kicking & screaming out of the Egyptian section of the British Museum in London when we were there over Easter!

[HIJACK]Btw, we'll be in London again the first weekend in December (1st-4th) as we're going to see Asia in concert on the 3rd, so if anyone in that area would like to meet up while we're down there...[/HIJACK] ;)

We now return you to your scheduled posting.

And add Sam - as I said, depending on when the litogether is, and when the baby arrives, she'd be there/ here

:nana: :nana: :nana:

If it's a weekend I should be able to manage it.
Got a new job with a little more freedom.
And more money. ;)

Egypt, ancient Egypt. :nana:

Maybe I'll get inspired enough to finish my novel.

Oh, to be able to kiss the brides. :D
