A Houston man fatally shot a 9-year-old girl shortly after he was robbed at an ATM on Monday night, according to police.

Tony Earls, 41, took aim at a pickup truck that he thought the robber was driving, police said. But the truck was actually carrying a family of five, and his shots killed Arlene Alvarez, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The Alvarez family was not involved in the robbery, which took place at a Chase Bank ATM just before 10 p.m. Monday, police said. Earls told the cops he and his wife were held up at gunpoint. No arrests have been made.
he was charged with aggravated assault for now but this may be upgraded

At least the good guy had the gun. Tots and Pears. Nothing can ever change, blah, blah blah. We Americans are too dumb to make what works in other populations work here, blah, blah. So many children killed by their parents guns, I will never stop crying if I start, seriously.
And, the kicker? If a kid accidentally kills his sibling at age six, the parents will literally blame the surviving sibling for not following gun safety laws they at age 45 did not follow in the first place.

That is not the proper use of a firearm. You don't chase people down and shoot at cars that are driving away.

You are responsible for where your bullets go.

I feel bad for everyone here. The man should not have been robbed and he should not have shot the truck.

I agree with you on this.

You are responsible for where your bullets go.

as well on this point, and in Canada you ARE legally responsible for where that bullets goes when you pull the trigger.

I feel bad for everyone here.

Don't feel sorry for me..... feel sorry for the innocent family. Also, ask yourself a question, "what have I ever done to help prevent tragedies like this from happening"

The man should not have been robbed and he should not have shot the truck.

Well your the one advocating for a diminished role of government. If the role of government is diminished, you don't think these types of tragedies will become an hourly occurrence???

I'm sorry, but your emotions of sympathy just ring hollow here, to me, given all the other drivel you post.
