ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) _ A 71-year-old man admitted on Tuesday that he met a 15-year-old girl online and transported her across state lines to serve as his sex slave.
Anthony Praias, of Kingston, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Albany to a one-count federal indictment charging him with taking a minor across state lines with the intent to engage in sex, said U.S. Attorney Glenn Suddaby.
In his plea, Praias admitted that in May 2005 he met the girl online using the Yahoo Web site. During conversations with her, he said they discussed engaging in a master-slave relationship.
Praias said he drove to Edmonton, Ky., on May 11, 2005, and brought the girl back to his apartment where they spent several days engaging in various sexual acts.
The girl's family reported her missing to local police, who tracked down Praias through the girl's computer and phone records, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Spina. The girl was climbing out the window when police arrived at Praias' apartment, he said.
Praias remains in federal custody awaiting a September 12 sentencing hearing. Praias faces a minimum of five years in prison, up to a 30 year maximum, and a fine of $250,000.
The girl is back with her family.
