Ever since the Moral Majority was founded in 1979 by Jerry Falwell the religious right has tried to restore the moral ethos of the 1950's. However, since the 1950's the moral consensus in the United States has changed. I am not saying that it has changed for the better, but it has changed. Currently the values of the religious right can only be enforced by a coercive government. I do not believe that that will be tolerated for any length of time.

Sodomy is already outlawed. It’s an old law that’s not been taken off the books. So still enforceable. I forget the exact state. Might be Ga. Not 100% sure. It’s a southern state tho.

At some level, it always has - age of consent and age for marriage and prohibition of sex between close relations. They vary by state but the restrictions exist.
