I have a friend that's been sterile for quite some time now. is it possible for him to have eventually become non-sterile over time?

fix fix

I was fixed years ago, and if it is done right you don't have to worry. If the doc. folded over enough and tied right he is safe. If he went through the 3,6,1yr checks he should be steril. enjoy enjoy

thanks... I was just curious. I dont know how he had it done, but he did. the poor thing's girlfriend thinks she might be pregnant, and I find it hard to believe if he's sterile (he still goes for the condom anyways though)

I think I smell smoke being blown up an ass.

if you're suggesting he made it up, I know better. he's confused as all hell how she could be pregnant since he's sterile unless something's happened and he's not sterile anymore. he doesnt want to be a daddy, but he will take care of the kid if she is pregnant (unless of course it isnt his kid at all).

Just wanted to give my two cents...
My finace had a vasectomy done 13 years ago, before the birth of his last child. Since he was so young, 21, the doctor put some sort of plastic clip on the tubes (if I'm explaining this right). The preliminary tests came out fine. He was "due" to go back to the urologist and have a sperm count done to make sure there were no squiggly wigglies swimming around. I guess he figured that for things obviusly having worked that long, he was safe.
In August I started getting sick. Continued into September. I took a pregnancy test and guess what. I "broke" him. I ended up have a miscarriage a few weeks later, but I was pregnant.
I'm not saying this scenario is likely to happen to someone else, but it can happen. Have the father in question go to the urologist, have things checked out. The absense or existance of sperm should quell the debate (at least partially)

thats the key going back to get checked otherwise it could happen...I have seen it happen to a friend in the navy went to the doc before he deployed figured it was all good came home and guess what 10 months later lil man was born he flipped said it wasn't his blah blah blah made his wife more/less hate him, when baby came did a dna and lo and behold it was his but sadly enough it was then a broken family. So like the above post not the quote here I would suggest going to the doc and checking the situation out incase its broken pipes with escapees and not a broken family in the long run :nana:

rubber?

When you said he went for condoms ,that did not sound right. I was tested for a year to be sure. Used condoms then. I had my tubes folded and tied as never to be reattached. Small section of tube also removed . Some men have more than 2 tubes but testing will let you know. If your friend did not get tested for a year then trouble could be there. He may want to go someplace else and retest to be sure. I know I would spend extra money for this test . As for smoke ,it could have come from lab as well. My final test was sent to another lab by my doctor to be double checked and a signed paper given to me. Good luck

I know it doesnt sound right that he goes for condoms still. He does it cuz of diseases (and I dont blame him there). He'd rather be safe than sorry in the end, especially since he isnt married or planning to be anytime soon. I'll pass on what everyone has said about this though. Thanks so much

I have a friend whom several years ago, got the snip. Last year, his girlfriend became pregnant. At first he didn't believe it until he went back to the doctor and had a sperm sample taken. Needless to say, he wasn't shooting blanks. This took about a week from the time she found out she was pregnant to when he found out he was no longer sterile.

My 2 pence worth...

Yes..I wondered if that was the reason for the condoms. Very sensible.

As regards sterilisation, I went into this in great detail before my own (10 years ago now). My Doc explained the method to be used (cut out a section of tube AND seal the ends). According to him and others......unless a very different procedure is used it is a safe as the Pill (ie virtually impossible to rejoin). In fact a deliberate attempt to reverse this op usually has a rather low success rate.

Incidentally....having been checked as "clear" there was no requirement to have rechecks at 1 year etc.

Certainly...if in doubt get a sperm count FIRST....before you go upsetting a whole load of people !!

I think you might have hit on the solution to the problem. She obviously is spreading herself for someone else.

He's had the snip, AND uses condoms, and she's pregnant?

Ok...
