Male Preference: Long or Short Hair?

I can't remember if this topic has been done before, so forgive me if it has.

I was listening to a talk radio station the other day and they were discussing the fact that a lot of men hate it when their wife/girlfriend cut their hair off. Often it happens after women have a baby. (Partly because they don't have time anymore to "do" their hair, partly because a lot of us feel the need for a new look to define our new roles as mothers.)

Anyway, as a rule, the men apparently lamented the loss of the hair. Some of them even referred to the new cuts as "dikey." (No offense to lesbians with short haircuts.) I've always thought long hair was sexy, because it is one of those things that makes a woman look feminine.

What are the guys' thoughts? Is it a universal preference that a woman have longer hair? Why?

Some women have hair and faces that look best with long hair, and some have hair and faces that look better with short hair.

I personally tend to prefer women who look good with long hair, but that's because of the whole package rather than the length of the hair.

I would love to have long hair!! I'd kill for long hair!! But sometimes it's not the woman or what her S/O likes it's the damn hair itself.
Mine is so baby fine that when it gets longer than chin length, it just freakin' falls out!! And, because of this baby fine texture, it doesn't do anything. At all. Nothing. No curls or pretty shape when it's longer. Just flat-against-my-scalp cap-o-hair. Yuck.
I keep it short because it's fuller then. I can style it when it's short and it's prettier.

While in high school and college I would be attracted to the long haired girls first. Something about the alure of long hair titillating certain body parts during certain sex acts.

I eventually became just as attracted to women with short hair once I matured and realized that hair does not make the woman's sex appeal. Now, I prefer hair between ear and shoulder length, thick or thin, any color but blonde and red are top choices. Long hair is great as long as the woman wears it to match her body stature. I have seen some real thin women with long, thick, frizzy hair that just did not look good on them.

But to be really respond to your question, I'd have to say it depends on the woman as to whether or not she looks best with long or short hair. One size does not fit all.

I like short hair because I like the shape of a woman's neck. I like to see some of her ear, perhaps interesting earrings. (Thus, long hair looks good worn up from time to time.)

I also like the feel of a woman's hair between my fingers as my hand holds her at the base of her skull. That can be such an intimate touch.

Mine I have grown all my life...18 years..I would hate to cut it!!! So I hope guys keep loving it for years to come. I haven't had any complaints at all...in fact a lot of women have complimented my hair and said they wish they had it!!

I think I much prefer long hair on a woman, but having said that, I have seen the occassional short hair cut that suited that particular woman. In general though, I'm with Xander on this one, there's something about long hair that turns me on.

Both. Sometimes short hair can look downright sexysultryhot! Long hair can be prettywildwonderful.

Its not a cop out answer. Really... it depends on the woman. Some women look better in short hair, some in long. Some either way, just a different look.

Okay, put me down as a typical male. I LOVE LONG HAIR!!!!

Having said that, My wife and my ex-wife both have and had short hair and when I'm truthful, I have to admit that they both look better with short hair. And I've never tried to push my desires on to them as they have to take care of the long hair. My hair is longer than my wife's now, and thats okay too.

But long hair is still a big turn on for me. The color doesn't even matter, although a long haired brunette might even be a small preference. That being said, I don't believe I've ever changed the way I thought a woman looked because of her hair length.
