Natalie was the perfect wife anyone could ask for. Especially a guy like her husband, he could not have gotten any luckier. And the luckiest day of his life was when he got on his knees to propose her exactly 7 years ago and some change. Heck, they'd been in love since she could remember so when he did ask her to marry him, her reply was instant and not wanting to waste any time being single anymore, she proposed the idea of getting married in a month. She wanted to take his name and was more than ready to call herself his Missus.
For Natalie, it wasn't just about looks but it was about how much a guy loves her. And he, she knew that he loves her dearly and that helped make the decision to spend the rest of her life as his dutiful wife, till death do us part, came to her in a heartbeat. Without any hesitation. However, it did feel as if they rushed their married life after they got married. A year after, she was pregnant with their first child, another child came two years later. It was odd because that sort of diverted their attention from one another to the children. No doubt they are one big happy family but they were too young to have settled down with kids so early! Her maternal instincts kicked in early and that sort of sucked the fun out of their fun married life. She remembers being happier before they were married. Even that first year after marriage, it was heaven. And then kids! Well, no one would look at her and say she's the mother of two. Many would even consider her to be in her early 20s, even young if she dressed differently, just because of her petite frame and that naive, innocent baby face of hers.
Knowing they've been talking about how kids are a bit older now, that they can stay with grandparents without giving them trouble or giving them some emergency for which they'd have to run back to them, the 7th year anniversary was the perfect occasion Natalie was waiting for. She knew that their fickle marriage was more or less her fault because she'd also been taking up more shifts at the hospital, working as an RN, it keeps her busy. And then at home, the kids are a handful. So, she decided to treat not only her but her husband to a nice little getaway! Having talked to her in-laws who would look after the kids for a week and a drive getaway 4 hours far would give them a perfect place to be away from family and friends. At the same time, they can always rush back home in case of an emergency.
The husband didn't know where they were going and that alone spoke of the fun that lies ahead for them this long weekend. That's why, she was driving the car and he was just a passenger, no clue where they were going. Glancing back at him after a good 20 minutes of the drive, she smiled, "So, how was the surprise? I sent the kids to your parents so we have all weekend to ourselves!" She said and smiled, looking back to the road ahead. Dressed in a polka dot top and a blue pair of jeans, otherwise comfortable for the long drive.
