I was chatting with a Dom last night and we were discussing this topic.

I told him that "Silence of the Lambs" and " Hannibal" had definite BDSM overtones.

Hannibal Lector seduces his victims and Jodi Foster by enticing them and making them want to please him, serve him. It really struck me in "Hannibal" in the scene where his nemesis loses his face to Hannibal.

What do you think?

Can you think of any others?

Other suggestions were

The Scarlet Letter
Madame Butterfly
Sense and Sensibility

Romance novels--especially those in the "pirate" vein. They don't call them "Bodice Rippers" for nothing.

Definitely romance novels.

I love them.

Especially the historical ones.

Some of these ones,I am talking like back in the dark ages,men do the most wicked things to these women.

Heck if anyone ever read a Diane Galbadon (spell?) its done to a man in that one by another man.

The things they get away with....

The historical ones that are set pre-18th century seem to be the best/worst depending on your point of view. Johanna Lindsey has a series of futuristic novels that are definitely D/s in nature. She chickened out in the third of the series because the heroine is actually from our time. Lindsey's medievals have definite D/s overtones. I've had Prisoner of My Desire as a definitel re-read for the past few weeks, but i'm waiting until i have my usual privacy to do so.

Bertrice Small writes bdsm flavored books with young girls as the "woman" of the story.

Here lately,she has given up an actual plot and gone straight to erotica.

I bought Love Slave on the title alone. If you consider that in the times her books are set, people only lived to be 30 or 40 at the most, her heroines ages aren't as alarming.

I've only read novellas by Thea Devine but they have all had D/s themes, as well.

Lori Foster's got a couple of contemporaries with some BDSM elements. I was on a mail ring with her and i don't think she was prepared for the reaction she got to a hero who was into bondage. He was at the top of almost everyone's favorite list.

The Cell with Jennifer Lopez, that movie had some seriously fucked up BDSM overtones in it to me.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV series)

Mostly the second and third season, especially anytime any of the vampire characters are involved. That Spike's a little slut. ;)

Malcolm in the Middle

I love the mother's character in that sit com. In fact, it is the only one I watch with any regularity.

She is Mother-Bitch-Domme from Hell! She rules her family of males with an iron hand. And her hubby loves it! I think one episode where they were in bed and she just "took" him!

That's my kind of woman!

Ebony

I Dream of Jeannie

Basic Instinct

Dare I say it? Body of Evidence.
Okay, so most people hate Madonna as an actress, and it's not a good movie. But there's an interesting thing going on, in that the lead prosecutor is familiar with all the equipment and terminology specific to the BDSM relationship he's investigating, something more than one person mentions. He (Joe Mantegna) and the Madonna character also share a six-degrees-of-separation dating history, as do many lifestylers in the same geographic area. She dated a man who dated an ex-girlfriend of his. Given that Madonna's Domme in the film, that would suggest Mantegna's sub, given their shared dating past. Interestingly, when she dies in the end, he says he has won. This suggests to me that he's an msub who hates her--but whether it's for being Domme or because she's an evil bitch is hard to say. I think he's a closeted lifestyler who gets the chance to eliminate a predator posing as a Dominant.

So, if you saw it and hated it, watch it again for the subtext--ignore the DeFoe plotline and follow Mantegna's.

I totally forgot about Body of Evidence. Saw it. Loved it. It was hot.

Does anyone else suspect Angelina and Billy have a D/s relationship going on?

Apparently, he has a dungeon :D
YES~! I have thought that since they hooked up.

Which reminds me--Original Sin. Heavy BDSM overtones in that one, too.

Anything by Catherine Creel. She's a romance novelist that will so appeal to subs who like a little non-consent. The woman has so got to be one of those vastly irritating subbie people who positively insist on being forced to do anything. Even consent to doing it.

I love male sluts!

There's a Listerine commercial...

...in which the Evil Gingivitus is inside a mouth.

The Gums, all red and puffy, look scared.

Gingivitus wields a big toothbrush and says:

"Okay Gums....brush and BLEED!"
~~~~~~~~
I think that counts as bdsm in the media...
You made me laugh so hard I almost wet my pants!
Ebony
Just Shoot Me has to be the kinkiest sitcom on TV. There was one episode that revolved around a misplaced bag of bdsm toys, and another in which the photographer's ex-wife kept the men in a big birdcage in her bedroom.
And in one episode, the boss wired the chairs in his office so he could give his employee's electric shocks. When he shocked Nina, she smiled and said "Ooo could you give me 3 little quick ones, and then one loooong one?"
NOW you're talkin my language...
Ebony"
~~~~~~~~~

I think laughter around sex is the sexiest of all.

I watched Tom Greene's "Freddy Got Fingered" the other night...and despite what anyone might say about him, I find him so far out there that he's on his way back in.

Were I to wet myself, it might be to his "Daddy would you like some sausages." bit, which for some reason, just slays me into uncontrollable laughter.

Having worked in advertising agencies a few times, you may be cpompletely assured that creative types are constantly looking for ways to subtlely insert moist, edgy references and naughty giggles into the mainstream.

Halls has "A little hit of cough syrup." in its' Centers...mmm...codeine reference, feeling sleepy....want some.

Hostess has "The Munchies"...wonder why?

And there's a cute toilet paper commercial with an animated bear all happy at his roll on a twig next to a big tree....because yes, bears do poo in the woods....and another with three 40-something women, blonde, auburn and brunette, at a skanky cabin...the blonde opens the door to the outhouse...inside a spa/paradise with young hardbodied men waving fans, obviously her slaves, proferring the cottony softness of Cottonelle.

Mach 3 razor blades...that happy guy in the jet zooming by the guy's house is naked, totally hairless and smiling....like all F18 jockeys? They wish.....

It's everywhere, I tell you....

And Ebony, by the time you start squirting in your thongs on a regular basis, Attends will be ready for you with ads showing young beautiful men asking their dom-ish wife where she put his BigBoy ActiveFit Attends to wear not just on those "special" days, but every day...and you'll want them....you'll realllllly want them.

And you'll buy them.
