anna was born into a poor family, bounced around from foster home to foster home after her parents died.
adopted into a family of all girls when she was 17, she soon learned she was going to be put into service as a mail order bride when she turned 18.

Malcolm was waiting for the stage that had his mail order bride in it to arrive. He was dressed in his Sunday best, and had a small bundle of flowers with him, and a picture of her so that I would know who she was.

ooc; welcome Sexycurves, the spot is yours

anna got out, looking around, she saw a man walking towards her. he was dressed nicely, and had flowers with him. she watched him approach her, but did not take a step towards him. she knew this was probably her new husband, and she would have to treat him with respect. she was scared though, only 18, and her parents sold her to a complete stranger in alaska as a bride.

Malcolm smiled at her and handed her the flowers. "You must be Anna, I'm Malcolm, welcome to Alaska, the last frontier. We will be staying here in town for a couple of days before we head up to my cabin, so that you can get used to the weather, and get any warm cold weather type clothing you might need." He smiled at her, showing that even tho he was up here all the time, he at least wasn't some crazy mountain man type, and still even had all his teeth.

he handed her the flowers. yes this must be him. he seemed very kind, not what she expected. she was glad to hear they would be staying in town a few days so she could get some proper clothing.

"it's nice to meet you malcom. how far from here do you live?"

she didn't know what else to say to him, it's not exactly a typical experience for her.

He looked up to the hills to the North of them. "I live up in those hills up there, it's about a days ride up there. You do know how to ride a horse don't you?" He looked at her with a questioning look. "I mean if you don't, that's ok, you can ride in the wagon, but just wondering. While we're here in town, we will be getting supplys for a while also. I come down around 3 or 4 times a year to get supplys, unless I hit a spot of gold that is gold, then I come down to turn it in for my riches you know. Don't worry, you can come down to town if you like at any time." He smiled and led her to the inn, showing her around town as he carried her luggage also.

"no, i dont know how to ride a horse. i've never been on one. I'd be willing to learn over the next few days. i dont need any special treatment like riding in the wagon."

she walked with him to the inn, wishing she had a heavier coat.

"what do you do all year, if you only come down a few times a year?"

"I'm a gold miner up in the hills, but don't worry, I don't live out on the land, or in tents, I have a cabin up there." He noticed that she was looking like she was getting cold, so he put his heavy jacket on over her shoulders. "We'll get you a better jacket first thing, after we drop your stuff off in the room. Are you hungry?"

"i didn't realize how cold it would really be here"

she shivered as he put his coat around her

"thank you" she said, wrapping it tighter around her.

"yes, i'm a little hungry" she was actually starving, not having eaten since she left indiana.

she was very glad that he was so kind, maybe it wouldn't be so bad being with him

Malcolm smiled as he led her into the inn. "Well let's get your stuff up to our room, and then we can get something to eat before we do some shopping." He led he upstairs admiring her as she went. She was a beautiful woman, and he was glad that she was the choice he made. He wasn't a rich man, but he had more than enough to keep them both well.

she followed him into their room of the inn. it was cozy, but big enough to move about comfortably. she wouldn't mind staying here for a while. they went downstairs to the small restaurant, and ordered something to eat.
sitting across from him, she looked into his eyes, green, complicated and sparkling, like she could get lost in them.

she wished she could think of something to say, but was unable.

Malcolm could tell that she was nervous, hell so was he. "So why don't you tell me a bit about yourself Anna. What do you like to do for fun?"

anna was grateful he started the conversation. she decided to be honest about her life, seeing she would be his wife soon. "Well, i was born poor and my parents both died when i was young. I was bounced around from fosterhome to fosterhome, until my last family adopted me when i was 17. they kept me, until now, when they told me i was being sent to be your wife. I had no say in most of the things that happened to me thus far in my life, and I am grateful that you are so kind as to already have informed me that I will be able to visit town when I please; I take that to mean that I will have a certain amount of independance."

she watched him when she finished. When he didn't answer right awa, she afraid she had said something to offend him, or said something he didn't enjoy hearing.

Malcolm smiled and nodded. "Yes you will have your independance. Sorry if I didn't answer right away, just letting thoughts go through my mind on what you said." He smiled and took a bite of his soup.

she ate some of her soup and sandwich in silence.

"so what about you, tell me about your life, what do you like to do?"

He looked at her wtih a smile. "I'm pretty much a loner, but am willing to change that for the right person. I love to sit down with a good book to read by the firelight, and have a quiet night at home."

she smiled, looking again into his beautiful eyes.

they finished their meal, he paid for them, and they left the inn to do some shopping.

Malcolm offered her his arm as they walked. "Sorry we don't have any big name stores up here, but the local store has clothing and whatever you might need in it."

she walked close to him, the wind blowing against their backs.
"it's fine, I've never shopped at the big name stores, money was always tight in the foster home, and my adopted family's home."
they walked into the store and looked around. "i'm not sure what i'm going to need to survive this weather" she looked at him "what do you recommend?"

He looked at her with a appraising look and nodded. "I would recommend that you get some pants, and heavy duty shirt's. You can get a couple of dresses also if you like, they do have dances down here in town from time to time. Some boots also, snow can get deep up there." He smiled and nodded. "Oh and of course a good coat, so that you can keep warm."

she nodded, as they walked around the store, picking things out. she looked at the dresses, they were pretty, but so expensive. "i can get dresses some other time" she told him. "i've got some nice clothes with me"

they purchased all she needed, and she put her new coat on as they walked back to the inn.

Malcolm saw the ones that she was looking at mostly and nodded to the clerk when she was in the changing room. He had her pack up the ones that she liked in her size, and place them with everything else. He would be picking up the supply's before they left, but still kept her clothing wtih them. "So would you like a look around the town, or head back to the hotel for now?"

anna brought the clothing up to the register, and stood next to Malcolm as the woman rang up their total and put the clothing into a few bags.

"i'm really tired" she told him. "Maybe we could ga back to our room?"

Malcolm smiled and nodded. "Yah, it is getting late, let's head back." He took the bags and led her back to the hotel.
