Television host Bill Maher called on President Biden to withdraw from the presidential election to allow for an open Democratic National Convention, arguing it would benefit the party and its chances of winning in November.

Maher, in an op-ed with the New York Times published Monday, offered a plan akin to a television series, claiming Americans are “already bored” with Biden and former President Trump as candidates.

I saw fare more complete than incomplete sentences in the Thursday debate. IT was a shit performance but pretending he doesn't speak in complete sentences is laughable at this poin.

Kinda like Trump, but at least Biden tells the truth and doesn't grift from his own biggest fans and doesn't grab women by the pussy and doesn't forcibly sexually assault them in dressing rooms and doesn't commit fraud countless times and doesn't steal classified documents, move them, and then lie about it, doesn't put the squeeze on foreign leaders by threatening to withhold military aid unless they dig up imaginary dirt on his political opponent, doesn't "fall in love" with the leader of North Korea and stick his tongue up Putin's ass, and doesn't threaten to suspend the Constitution and in sight an insurrection to overturn the results of an election... Should I go on?

I should add that as disgusting as that was the Left mostly at the time let it slide. It looked like he MIGHT have gotten something done to get the North and South on better terms. They even met face to face and walked the DMZ. Compare that to how badly the Right treated Obama for talking to Castro or Pelosi for flying to Taiwan. These are just how differently the two sides treat similar behavior.

WE can at least credit Trump with the fact that he's upset Biden didn't just start sending US troops to Ukraine along with NATO. You know the same place the Right doesn't even want to fund. But hey, at least that last one is something he was wrong about but not the way the press. . .kinda talks about it. Really they don't talk about it because they don't talk about the rest of that.

The way I see it, after the debate last week, whatever the Democrats do now will be wrong. Their only hope is a Trump disaster or something to put him out of action.

Biden's performance in the debate seemed to confirm all that his critics said about his current mental capacity. If he carries on, that can only get worse over time for a man in his 80s. If the Democrats remove Biden, the next obvious choice is Harris, who seems to be polling as bad as, or even worse, than Biden. If they try to appoint someone else, like Newsom, there will be criticism of him being "coastal elite", and I think Whitmer would be the strongest candidate from here (as Sanders is too old now). If it were to be Whitmer, it would piss off a lot of black people and black women about Harris.

And Trump would love all this. He would accuse the DNC of being elitist, remote from the people, trying to force their "radical left democrat" politicians on you etc.

It didn't have to be this way. The Democrats could have held real primaries instead of forcing Biden.

I get the impression that Donald Trump is going a little soft (i.e. controlled) on Joe Biden to stop him leaving the race. The New York Times seems to be stronger on wanting Biden to step down than Fox News at this point.
