Home, I hope to reach it again one day... What would it be like if I returned. No one would believe me I suppose. They would ask where I had been, I would answer truthfully. "Oh I accidentally walked into a spell and ended up in Gaia." They would look at me and blink; then before to long I'd be in a mental institute. The very idea is frightening to me, not only will it be hard if even possible to return home but returning home may not be a good thing. Still it is what I want I know that.

This magic thing is my best bet to home. I just wish it wasn't so complicated. I am told I have a high mana count, well higher then most people my traveling companions have seen any ways. At first I thought that was a good thing, but now I am seeing it is a mixed blessing at best. My high mana made it easier to tap into spell casting at first but it is also hindering my control with spells, they tell me I cast like a child.

That will make tomorrow fun. I am told we will arrive at Crimson Town by then, and that it is far from a small town. Once there I'll see if some one can help me with my situation.
 
This is both OOC and IC thread. IC will begin in a few days.

The Basics:

I have some idea's I am going to keep private for now. So let me explain the thread set up. A number of people over a period of a month were pulled into Gaia from earth, the trip has or will give them a high mana count. This will let them reflexively and recklessly cast powerful but simple spells. (Firey explosions, not a match size flame nor a commet from the sky.) That said not all PCs need be earth humans.

My first idea for this thread was strange magic, and so I would like to keep some varity and offer some suggestions.

7 Mana Elements:
-Law, chaos, water, fire, earth, wind and cosmos, (which is most odd effects.)
-Very few people can access more then three types, players included.
-Elements are visatile. (Lighting can be wind or fire. Gravity can be Law or Cosmos. Healing can be earth, water or law)

Schools of magic: 6 schools.
-Abjurations: Banishments, counter spells, and force walls. This is largely a defensive school.
-Conjuration: This school is about summoning minions, swords and fireballs.
-Divination: Spells to see beyond the wall, or what team will win the super bowl.
-Enchantment: Putting a nightmare into some ones dreams, or making one like you as a person are in this school.
-Illusion: Being invisable, or making somthing look like somthing else.
-Transmutation: Making some one stronger or turning them into a frog.
 
Forms of casting:
-Alchemy: This form of "casting" is about the object. A sword that lights it self on fire, a healing potion, or a mage who summons minions from playing cards are all alchemy. This uses less mana.
-Astrology: This form is about placement and math but is generally stronger then the others. Rituals involving planetary cycles, were-wolves and a mage that draws a complex diagram to cast a spell use this type of casting.
-Evokaction: The most common form it is about what is said and done. A ninja with hand signs, lighting a fire by snapping ones fingers, and saying uber death ray are forms of evocation.

Ancestry: This is a special option for earth humans to be less human. Not all goblins, nymphs, angles, and the like have been trapped in gaia, some have escaped. Once in earth they could of interbred and let there blood thin, or perhaps there essence was stuck between earth and gaia waiting to attach to some one who fell threw. The high levels of mana will reactivate this odd blood resulting in a slow transformation to be more like ones ancestry.

Gaia: This is a land that time forgot. Most places are between the stone and dark ages but a few remote locations have technology along with magic. One is as likely to see a dinosour or dragon as they are to see a human in any given forest. (In short anything possible and anything goes in this story.)

The common races:

Human (Gaian): Humanity is nothing if not adaptive. Living at most half the time of a dwarf or a quarter that of an elf they often obtain mastery in subjects rivaling that of the longer lived races. They are a hardy people capable of both magic and brute force as needed. (Many humans do indeed of skill in both.)

Dwarf: Standing at 4ft tall and living to 200 years or so, dwarves are masters of mining and close range combat. They are more resitant to magic then most, making them effective mage slayers but at the same time greatly reducing the amount of mana in there bodies. They have the added benefit of seeing perfectly fine in near total darkness.

Elf: Standing an inch shorter then humans on average and living to 400 to 500 years, the limber elf is an agile and swift warrior both with the sword and with the lighting bolt. The typical elf has more mana of the classic four elements then most making many spells they cast more potent.

Orc: The green and gray skinned orcs like the dwarves are resistant to magic. However unlike the dwarves there tribal society is quite proficent at astrology which makes them very powerful spell casters given time. Undoubtedly they could rule the world if there culture wasn't so prone to in fighting.

Uncommon:

Goblins: Thought distant cousins of the orc they stand little more then 3ft tall. They posses no reistance to magic and as such can be talented evokers. Trouble is few goblins practice non ritual magic, and goblins are fequently slaves to other races.

Halfing: Much like goblins are to orcs, halfings are to humans although a halfling lives slightly longer. The halfing is surprisingly fit and agile easily able leap twice there height and talented climbers. If your cat is stuck in a tree call a halfing.

Gnomes: These guys stand 3ft tall as well and have an odd magic resistance they are immune to illusion spells and yet oddly proficient at making illusions.

Gargoyles: This race has a low mana count making alchemy there preferred form of magic. They are twice as strong as an orc or human, usually have wings, and being nocturnal by nature can see in the dark almost as well as the dwarf. When they die they turn to stone.

Rare: These races are seen but usaly suprise people all the same.

Trolls: A dieing breed these man shaped creatures have green skin, warts, claws, and huge noses. They can smell extremely well and are easily smelled. There bodies are rich in water and earth mana, but they never contain any other form of mana with the rare exception of law. All the same the abundance of earth and water mana lets there flesh heal itself regrowing a lost limb over a day. Even a removed head can be regrown over two a half days. But this regeneration is greatly slowed by the use of fire.

Nymphs: These talented spell casters are among the most beautiful women in the world. They are naturally immortal, being reborn every 100 years or so much like a phoenix. However each new body needs to relearn most of its skills.

Red Orcs: These are a rare mutation amoung orcs, they have reddish, orangery, or brownish skin and a complete and total immunity to magic. With much effort they can use an alchemic item on other people, but only if the item has a source of mana other then the caster. (Potions for example use the drinkers mana.)

Human (Earthling): Much the same as a traditional human but something either from the trip or perhaps the earth itself has blessed them with one of the highest mana counts ever seen. This makes them either tireless spell casters or capable of feats of brute magic force rarely seen. At the same time fine control of the magic arts becomes a difficult concept to grasp.

And many others. Dragons, gnolls, elementals... all non named are rare but possible.

I am growing tired of shrinking. The process isn't painful, feeling ironically like a growing pain, but I am scarcely taller then my halfling master now. Besides the process was drawing attention in town making me feel even more awkward, not only was I stranger to this world but the entire town had never seen a human turn into a halfling over a period little over a week. I pray that it stops soon, as is master Filli and I are leaving for the country to escape the local eye for a while, although Filli says its just because he'd like to show me wild mana.

Master Filli seems as tireless a traveller as a spell caster. If I hadn't become so adept at jumping and climbing would easily of been left behind. This transformation seems to have some benefits although the hairy toes are quite disgusting to me.

The highlight of today was finding a mana, Master Filli believes its law but isn't sure due to some sort of taint new to him. The creature was some sort of very tiny liquid ball more then content to just sit around even as we aproched, I am told if one touches it the mana is absorbed into the skin. That is why we were carefull not to touch the mana, Master Filli wants to study it first.
 
For the record Casey Smith just a plot point and not my intended pc, provided some one is interested in the earth humans I will use this character or some one else.

race: Goblin

Looks: Free of all but her green skin, pointed ears, and short stature. Karina is a busty goblin with an ass that tempts most men as a result of her owners transformation spells and dislike of anything ugly.

elements: Cosmos, water, law

Other magic notes: Her strong points a transmutation rituals which her owner does for a living, similar to cosmetic surgery.

gear: As property she owns nothing, but since her male human master never wears the small dresses they tend to belong to her. Beyond that she has a sturdy walking staff with a reasonable wind mana crystal in it, and a fire wand for lighting torches and such.

History: Karina was born into slavery and was blessed finer hair then most goblins and a face mostly blemish free. When she was four she was hard at work for her mothers master chopping wood. While there she cought the eye of a passing mage who was in the market for new goblins.

Her master worked in the business of vain nobles and his reputation was growing so he needed an extra person to do chores while he worked longer hours. But if one must own a slave, he may as well own a good looking goblin and this was one the creatures he could stomach better so he bought her.

Her master, Kyle, quickly enough grew tired of her looks and improved them as result. After that his business doubled, after all if he can make a goblin look good imagine what he could do with an average dwarf or human (wealthy races and thus his target market.) This doubling of his business was her second lucky break.

Kyle simply could not keep up with his paperwork at first and taught her to read and write, she seemed bright enough and picked it up quickly, and after 8 years she started to develop into a straight line of a woman, (goblins age faster then humans,) so he upgraded her figure into something more catchy for horny nobles. During her new reshaping her questions led him to show her the basics of ritual transformation for which she having seen him do so many of had a knack for and before long she was helping with simpler less expensive cosmetic issues.

From there her relationship with Kyle began odd. Kyle is a mix of an owner, friend and husband, sort of a bad marriage set up although she finds it quite comfortable. She cooks and cleans for him, manages some paperwork and blemish removals cup upgrades and the like while Kyle does most of the work, drinks, and hooks up with bimbos. Very seldom do Karina and Kyle share a bed but it has happened more then once. As a result Karina is afforded some freedom while still very much is a slave.

as of history,
anastasia was created in the middle of the desert, quickly being taught to survive quickly. Seeing and hearing about her new life, she had to keep strong and hold her head up high.

She was soon living her daily life trying not too stand out,
as she all of a sudden woke up to one day in a new world..
she did not know what was going on and hence this day
forth, she spent her time learning skills trying to escape.
 
While I do apreciate the interest smiley, this thread has't moved in about a month. Sad to say its dead in the water, I don't intend picking it up any time soon. Sorry.

As for the character mistake, you can use the edit button in the future. Saves on confusion and space.

Other magic notes :All magics relating to life have a negative impact on him. extra strength from
Death magic. Alchemy and Evocation are the only styles He can use. Sun light
nullifies all of his magic and physical advantages to that of when he was human.

gear :All gear is Blood Stained, Black cloak, Black Katana and a simple Monks belt.
History :Born on earth before gaia became self aware. was trapped within and came out as a Vampire. Has lived for several centuries and has mastered Illusion and enchantment, Is in the school of Conjury but has Mastered several spells. Has seen 3 gods in his life and has been killed 5 times. He has tried to commit suicide 20 times and has found that his body will rebuild if even one finger is left whole. Has lost hundreds of years through this and is now just finalizing his repairs since his last attempt. The world has made many advancements and he will learn to deal with these.

I awoke from my painful reconstruction slumber. It had been 20,00 years of pain and I was not all that interested in trying it again any time soon. Looking around the room I find myself encased in a small coffin. I know this because it is the 8th time somebody has decided my skeleton needed to be kept in one.
Looks like a long 30 years I think to myself as I cast some minor wind magic and slowly rip the wooden case apart. I can tell it is daylight above so I begin to carve out somewhere to work when my power fails me in the direct sunlight.

Four hours later I wearily climbed out of the hole in the cemetery, and I began to look for someone to clue me in.

I swear. I only want to TALK to someone. I told myself as I began the trek to find some form of civilization.
