Judge blocks family's attempts to get the $50m awarded to them before the full liquidation happens

Earlier this month, lawyers for the parents of 6-year-old Jesse Lewis obtained an order from a Texas state judge allowing them to immediately start collecting assets from Jones’ company, Free Speech Systems, after the company’s bankruptcy reorganization failed.
Judge Lopez agreed with the court-appointed trustee that they need to wait till infowars and other assets are sold, since it would maximise their values and mean a better outcome for all the creditors, not just that one family.
Lopez said that the trustee will continue selling Jones’ assets—including Jones’ media site Infowars—then distribute the proceeds equally among all Jones’ creditors. Among the creditors are other relatives of Sandy Hook victims who were awarded more than $1.4 billion in lawsuits over Jones’ false claims that the 2012 mass shooting was a hoax.

i don't have a problem with this decision, as it goes. I believe in fairness and this feels fair.

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones ' Infowars media platform and its assets will be sold off piece by piece in auctions this fall to help pay the more than $1 billion he owes relatives of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, under an order expected to be approved by a federal judge.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez in Houston said during a court hearing Tuesday that he will approve the auctions that start in November. But he said he first must change a previous order to make it clear that the trustee overseeing Jones' personal bankruptcy case controls all the assets of Infowars parent company Free Speech Systems, which is owned 100% by Jones.

jones proposes 'Infowars' assets could be bought by his supporters, allowing him to continue hosting his show as an employee under the Infowars brand in their home city of Austin, Texas.

so will jones' fans bid and buy? time will tell

I'd have thought he would have just handed over InfoWars and 'Free Speech Systems' to the plaintiffs and told them to get on with it. They're not worth a dime without his loud mouth.

Then somebody else starts up a company called 'Expensive Speech' with a YT channel called 'InfoSkirmishes'. Gobshite Jones can get a job there on minimum wage, rinse and repeat.

Someone send him a MyPillow so he can have someplace to lay his head at night (and wake up with a stiff neck).

The auction has already attracted several of those who hate the broadcaster and conspiracy theorist, including Media Matters for America President Angelo Carusone. The progressive site, which made its name off of posting many of Jones' most famous rants, is exploring a bid not just for control of the site but for any wild information Infowars hasn't published in its archives.

'We are diligently considering this acquisition,' Carusone told Semafor. 'As we saw with the Tucker tapes, the archives could contain unbroadcasted material that ends up having real news value - not schadenfreude - but actually useful information.'

Jeff Rotkoff, who runs a liberal super PAC and has recently started an outlet centered on Texas called The Barbed Wire, says he wants in on the bidding, too. 'We started The Barbed Wire in part to disrupt the constant stream of conspiracies and disinformation from people like Alex Jones and Joe Rogan, and it would be a step towards justice to use the Infowars brand to undo some of the damage they've caused,' Rotkoff said.

unfortunately, though, infowars' price will be outside his budget but a man can dream, right?

A third current executive at a left-leaning media company said they’d looked into it this week, and an adviser to several progressive nonprofit news organizations said they are speaking with big donors about placing a bid or launching a crowdfunding campaign.
