When was the last time you read it? Probably in college.

I first read Madame Bovary in college. I read it last summer... almost 20 years later. In college I read it and it was an intellectual exercise. Last summer I read it and I was saying to myself- yup, yup, I know 'er I know 'er.

No problem, NBSW...

It was a book by Gustave Flaubert published in the mid 1800s. It was banned by the French government and Flaubert went to trial for obscenity.

If you wish a taste of it- rent the movie (an oldie- in the classics section). But the book and movie are two different animals.

Emilie Bovary is a tragic character- she reminds me of more than I few women I know. I won't say how- read the book... or at least watch the movie.

It's Mardi Gras season and our first parade is today so... Happy Mardi Gras!

Madame Bovary..a true classic..what a tragic character..but so very real too
