I’ve played with mad scientist ideas before but I figured this was enough of a twist to not need to revive one of them:
Mad scientists who have a friendly rivalry realize they are getting older and neither one of them has heirs. So they decide to make lovers but since they tend to have a maternal or paternal relationship with their creations, they decide they will compete again and try and make the perfect lover for their rival.
During the creation the two scientists realize they know each other quite well and start to realize they have feelings for their rival.
The creatures are made and modified and are told all about the scientist they will be romancing. The creatures grow and finally hit their final maturation.
What happens next?
1. The creatures having been told how wonderful the scientists are are disappointed with the reality and wind up partnering with each other. The scientists then either admit their own feelings for one another or foolishly go back to the drawing board
2. Creations do hookup with the scientists but having realized their creators are in love with each other they decide the only way for things to be perfect is to have an open relationship/regular orgy
3. Creations hook up but then become hostile towards their creators who they see as romantic rivals. Scientists need to figure out a way to calm their creations down before something bad happens
4. As mad scientists are known for: they over designed their creatures and now Kaiju sized beasts are roaming around, burning everything in sight and conquering the world for the scientist they are supposed to be in love with. Mad scientists bond and maybe even confess their feelings as their creations destroy the world
