Lynyrd Skynyrd

Damn that brings back some memories.

My redneck days.
I know an attorney who is a Flying Elvi... but out here, who doesn't? In Las Vegas, you can find Elvis on every street corner.

Van Zant is a new group that has the younger brother of one of the Van Zant brothers. It's pretty good, I like their music.

J put some 70s something on the CD player one afternoon while I was making dinner, and I started singing along with it while I cooked...

J - "I didn't know you knew ___!"
(I can't ever remember the names of bands/songs)

me - "Oh yeah! My parents had it on LP when I was little"

*crickets chirp*

J gives me a look, I apologize, and we agree we'll not discuss how old I was when whatever CD he plays originally came out.

LOL K and I have those moments. He'll say something about some TV character or the other, and I'll look at him. He'll say, oh yeah - you weren't alive then were you?

Once we were looking at old pictures. I giggled at his mothers hair, a very sixties hair style. He said 'I'm sure your mother had hair like that at one point, too'. I was like 'um my mom was wearing pig tales in the sixties'. *crickets chirp*

K: "God I'm old."

Is this some test to show how old we are? Anybody remember Canned Heat? King Crimson? Ten Years After? 3 Dog Night? Cream? James Gang? Arlow Guthery?

Arlow had a father? Would he have a name? Ha Ha.

Never cared much for CCR. And no, I don't remember them.

Actually I listen to mostly 60's and 70's music, despite my age.

And how many people know the names (one still pretty famous fella) of the members of Cream? ;-)

Oh nevermind... someone will google it. LOL

I saw Greg Lake a couple of years ago at the House of Blues. He's still real good.

Many inflicted upon me as a single digit by mom and stepdad.

I agree with Mom, that Spinal Tap is a pretty direct Ten Years After spoof.

No offense intended. I have to now deal with the Ramones and the Talking Heads showing up on oldies stations.

hee hee - well done

Asleep may be more country rock from the early 80's and not in the more popular groups we are discussing - you are off the hook with them...

Refresh my memory... who in the James Gang?

And then of course, there's Buffalo Springfield's famous member(s). ;-)

I love ELP, too and yes he really does.

CM and Grace, I sound much too much like J and K, LOL. ~D is 5 years younger, my former play partner 8 years younger, my last woman lover 18 years younger. Hmmmm... perhaps dating older would make me feel younger? Maybe I should consider it in my current search. ;)

Now, to really show my age...

Credence Clearwater Revivial (is that who you meant by CCR, Sir Shank?), Hendrix, Joplin...

And yes, DVS, I remember every single one of them. We are of an age...

The James Gang founder and lead singer was Joe Walsh. He's most lately been a long standing member of The Eagles.

Buffalo Springfield was a band that eventually sprouted Steven Stills and Neil Young to be in Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

But, before the four of them got together, it was just Crosby, Stills and Nash. The most remembered group they all were members of, I'd say.

Graham Nash came from the Hollies...a 60s band some might remember. David Crosby was a founding member of The Byrds. Another great 60s group the kids will have never heard of.

EDITED to add...David Crosby also gave his sperm to father the children of Melissa Ethrich and Julie Cypher.

I had to Google to find the name of Ethrich's lover.

Another interesting tidbit of info. The group Crosby, Stills and Nash first played as a band at Woodstock.

For those who don't know, that was three days of music that came before any Lolapolusa (sp) type of thing of recent days.

Well, there is CPR, but hopefully, none of us will need that in the near future.

Isn't it interesting how the old mind works?
