Lycanthropy

That bred a bunny for me about a guy who was a failure as a werewolf, on a full moon he would turn into a dachshund!:)

Glad I could help! :D

Just... ah... have him running for D.A. as the story picks up. No, really. I'm begging over here.

In all seriousness though, I have to admit that it's been enlightening. It's been many blue moons since an old college course in comparative mythology. Digging out some of my old texts and notes has been trippy.

Especially the stares I would get from classmates when discussing the identifying characteristics.

The tropes commonly associated with werewolves and vampires these days are mostly products of Hollywood. The original mythologies are generally quite different, and of course vary depending on culture.

Of course these days people are constantly putting their own unique spin on these monsters in order to stand out from everything that Hollywood has done before.

Over my life the American Psychiatric Association changed it Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5 times. Neuroses vanished over the years, I usta refer to neuroses as WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GET (fill in the blank) but depressed, queer, scared, drunk, violent, etc were the neurotic problems. Queer was a major neurosis till the 70s and the APA filled with queers. DSM5 is so strange I'm lost in it. Christian, married, employed, white are the new disorders.

But horror tropes remain like granite monuments.
