I have 3 chapters of one story published and another one-shot story published, but I have a lot of other stuff already written or being worked on.

My goal is to try to write something for as many categories on Lit as possible. I want to improve as a writer and I thought that would force me to broaden my horizons a bit while also being fun. It's a silly goal, but I'm cool with it.

I published a sci-fi story that I knew would tank. I had certain goals that didn't add up to a very readable story. I enjoyed writing it and it scratched an itch I had to experiment with some things.

The other story I have published in the Taboo/Incest category will be concluded with the chapter I'm putting up next week. It was well received, but I know that it's not that good. It's very deliberate in it's emotional manipulations, it's overly melodramatic and when you strip it down, it's sort of pedestrian, but not bad.

I read a thread where people were recommending some favorite authors. One of them had stories in the Loving Wives category. I was completely unfamiliar with the genre so I decided to take a look. The story was huge. Novel length and broken down into chapters.

I didn't bother to read any comments until I was almost done with the story and... I was flabbergasted. They were fucking unreal. It was as if there was an army of anonymous commentors that were crawling out of the woodwork to bludgeon the (very skilled) author because the main characters wife had cheated on him.

These people were insane! Every other post was about how the character was a cuck and the author likely was as well. The people posting were clearly barely literate and were living proof that people with double digit IQ's could still find their way to an erotica site.

More than anything, it was sad. They are clearly damaged individuals. I read another story and the same thing held true there.

Is that category just the cesspool of Literotica when it comes to comments?

This turned into more of a rant than I had anticipated, but these people are seriously fucked up. Someone had to have broken their heart at some point and they haven't been able to get over it.

loving wives

loving wives category attracts the worst on litreotica. I've seen many good stories downvoted into oblivion, authors giving up because of the negative feedback they get. Most of the comments will be anonymous, titled "1*" and will call the author a faggot, story "cuck shit",etc. If you want to write for that category, remember to ignore them.

Ever step in a big pile of dog crap on a warm rainy day? What you see on the bottom of your shoe is a step above the typical LW reader.

So if you want to try your hand there go ahead, but be prepared to scrap the comments off your mental shoe like the shit it is.

It may be worth remembering that there is a bit of a challenge, running annually, I think, where an Author writes a story for each of the subjects

I had no idea! That's pretty cool. Thanks for the heads up.

If you want to submit a story in the Loving Wives category but avoid the trolls, then you must write about something OTHER than a wife who has sex with someone other than her husband and enjoys it and suffers no consequences. I suggest you look at the stories in that category that have received the highest scores over the last year. There are stories featuring wives that don't bring out the trolls and the one-bombs.

In retrospect, I think that the most pathetic thing about the commentors that I noticed was their contempt and vitriol for the characters, story and author EIGHT CHAPTERS IN!

It's insane that they have so much hate and yet trudged on, page after page, chapter after chapter.

You must be new here. LOL.

Loving Wives is infamous for its mentally-unstable, angry, vitriolic, bitter, humorless, joyless, intelerant, weirdly-Puritanical, readership. It’s also famous for being the category where authors are guaranteed a ton of views, votes, and comments.

I left this site for about a year because I was just exhausted by that crowd. I began writing for another site. My stories received high scores. The readers were grateful and kind and filled with praise. And you know what? It was BORING! Nothing compares to writing for LW.

If you’re really concerned about bad scores and feedback, pleasing the LW crowd is unbelievably easy. In fact, my highest-scored LW story to date was written on my cellphone. It took maybe 20 minutes to write it. I put no thought whatsoever into the plot. I didn’t proofread or edit it at all. That story earned praise from the LW crowd and sits with a score of around 4.30 to this day. (Of course I submitted it under a pen name, since the LW readers would one-bomb me if I had submitted A Tale of Two Cities.)

Just write a story about an incredibly stupid woman who cheats on her husband, gets caught, and is humiliated, divorced, beaten, and/or murdered. That’s a guaranteed four-star story.

I think you're talking about the survivor contest which is no longer running. I think the last one was 2015. Like the other contests too many issues with 'gaming' and the same person kept winning.

Too bad I did it a couple of times. It was a great challenge.

I posted in LW before I checked this forum: a story about a woman blowing a guy on a plane when her husband was asleep next to her. It was harmlessly frothy, a short little vignette, well-described so that readers would know what they were getting.

The comments... well, let’s just say the story attracted more comments than any of my other submissions, by far.

It’s at 4.3, and after spending some time on this forum I’m shocked it’s even that high.

I tend to write 15-20k word stories and I remain amazed at the number of people who will carefully read the whole lot, and subsequently leave a detailed comment telling me why it's shit, it's in the wrong category or how my character/s deserve to die. I've missed the mark on my stories more than once and I have no issue with people telling me as such but there are certainly some special cases out there who take things to a whole new level. Misplaced rage and all that!

If you're planning on writing in each category, and you would like to keep the one bombing and unhelpful comments on non-LW stories at bay, leave the category to last. Your new 'friends' will certainly follow you... as will any of the dickheads reading this forum (and they do) who take exception to what you're posting and think that they can punish you by down-voting your stories.

Bebop3, if or when you decide to post a story in LW, please stop by the AH cafe. I still rent shark proof suits to those that post there. ;) :D

I still write LW stories...whatever I write, no matter how loving the wife is or how much she cheats or sleeps around I know I can't please everyone who, for some reason can't help themselves by reading stories they don't like. That is so strange to me...why read something you don't like...the only time I did that was in high school and college.

Anyway...I have turned off voting and comments. I know it really frustrates them because I get email from them via my contact page complaining and calling me a worthless wimp for not having the guts to let them vote and comment. But I don't really care. I don't need their validation or condemnation to know I struck a cord with them. They are most likely husbands of wives who sleep around on them and resent it.

Just my thought on the scum hanging out in LW who say they hate you and how that you and your wife get AIDS or some other STD.

It's seems they don't understand fiction. And if it was anywhere near the truth...with me it happened so long before all the nasty forms of STDs that there was no chance of catching anything that couldn't be cured with a big shot of penicillin.

It doesn't surprise me that, out of Literotica's vast readership, there are some hostile and profane trolls for LW stories. They have an agenda that has nothing to do with reading erotic stories. What surprises me is how many of them there seem to be, and the impact they have on story scores. I suppose it's possible that it may be a small pool of people faking identities and passing themselves off as a larger group, but based on my reading of the comments, I don't think that's the case. I know that fake voting does happen, but there still seem to be a lot of these readers. That's what surprises me.

The biggest issue with LW is there aren't just trolls there are factions among the trolls and each faction has a particular thing they hate and even some story aspects they might defend.

But because of the divide of trolls its pretty much impossible to write a story that is not going to set off one or more of the factions. Then these whack jobs start arguing on your comment feed....

LW is for people who either genuinely like writing that material and can be thick skinned enough to deal with the loser's club.

Or people who post there to deliberately flame the trolls and laugh.

I have three in the category

My first was set to flame a particular demographic there(woman haters, so most of them) This one was high three's after the first week then as a couple years went buy slowly built up to where its just over a 4.5 as the trolls don't look at older stories (it will dip after I post this:rolleyes:)

The second was meant as a satire. It was so over the top anyone with a brain could tell this thing should not be taken seriously. The result was a story that still is below a 3 and was under a 2 before the contest sweep and the nastiest comments I've ever seen because the morons literally can't figure out a joke.

The third was a legit effort where I experimented with making the story start out as a humiliating cuck story, but had a turn at the end where not only is the cuck fine with the whole game, but 'man's up' and gives his wife a better fucking than the other guy did and ends with them happily sitting on the couch together sharing their room service.

That one actually never dipped below a 4 and got some decent comments, but you can see in the hateful ones many never read past the beginning and dubbed it 'cuck shit'
