I published a new story today, "Cowboy Up But Not Down." Its a long story with a plot and a couple of subplots. I appreciate all the positive feedback and constructive comments. I take the comments very seriously and with each story try to improve from the last story. I have only been writing since last May and only have 12 stories published, with almost a million readers for all the stories, mostly in the Loving Wives section. I am honored that one story is liked enough to be in the HOF. As everyone knows this genre it is a hornets nest, a den of the most poisonous reptiles on earth. I have largely ignored the haters (that is what i like to call them) because the same people hate no matter how the story is written or if the story is BTB or RAAC story.

These same people (the haters) don't even, for the most part, read the stories but skim through them. How do they know what the plot is or if there is even a sub-plot. The realize the husband either dumps the wife or takes the wife back, often, begrudgingly, and usually with extenuating reasons. There is a host of reasons why a husband might reconcile with his wife and all are justifiable. If the haters bothered to read the story properly then they might realize why the husband takes his wife back. Today the haters sent an email, then went back to all my other stories and left a nasty comment and scored them a 1. That is pretty low.

I think my story is an example of why a husband takes often the wife back, because he cannot afford to divorce her because he would have to split everything 50/50, in this case 1,000 acres of his ranch.
The ranch had been in the family for a century and he could not dream of ever parting with even an acre.

I turned off voting and comments on this story because I realized many would not like it and told everyone if they wanted to comment send an email. I have received dozens of the most hateful email I have ever seen. I've had a pretty thick skin up until now but I'm tired of reading this riffraff. My future stories will either been in the erotic couplings or mature category. The haters only comment anonymously and are obviously frightened to come out in public and say such hateful things. They hide behind the cloak of ambiguity.

This story could be improved, granted, i know that. I wrote the story in one week, let it set for two weeks then came back and revised it a dozen times in order to make it more realistic. Then i spent a solid month editing and proofing. I even have an expensive grammar checker that i ran it through.

Some of you might suggest that i need an editor, in fact, I have two but they are so busy with their family life they have not been able to work with me for the past several weeks.

The haters should be thankful people take the time to write and submit a story to . Nobody gets paid or recognition for writing a story. OI read a comment a few weeks ago saying they were disappointed that there were only two stories in the Loving Wife genre that day. I wonder why? As for myself, i have long been a reader but now at an old age well past retirement I am trying to write to keep my mind sharp. I think i have come a long way since my first story but the need for improvement is always there.

Enough of a rant, sorry and thanks for taking the time to read this. I needed to vent.

Are you sure about that division of property? Even in a community property state, property owned by one spouse stays with that person.

Oh, Loving Wives is an interesting category. If you can take the trolls and the comments and the one star bombing, its actually quite fun. But once you've posted there, the trolls will follow you into other categories, especially if you show they're getting to you. Thats where they get there kicks. If its getting to you, I'd suggest a new userid and a fresh start. Me, I enjoy the trolls and theone star bombing ddoesn't bother me. Enough votes and it all averages out.

I started your story but didn't finish it.

Boxlicker is right, the ranch is NOT community property. That was a big flaw but what really turned me off was the fight seen; he's laying on the floor after just being kicked in the balls and he immediately spouts out everything?

Have you ever been kicked in the balls? All you can do is groan in pain. The line, "I'm beaten," or whatever it was is very unrealistic as well.

The other thing is turning off the comments. When you do that it only makes the trolls angry. The people who liked the story aren't going to take the time to write, only the ones who didn't like it will do that.

I'm not trying to discourage you here. I've been writing for that genre for years and know exactly what you're going through.

You said you wrote the story in a week but took much longer to edit it. Maybe take some time from the editing and put it into the story. Think things out. The fight scene was totally unbelievable. First, why would the guy she was dancing with sucker punch the husband right in front of his wife and all the witnesses? It doesn't make sense. Why would he so readily admit to drugging her and why would she be with him if she knew he drugged her? None of it makes sense.

When writing, put yourself in the shoes of the person you're writing about. Ask yourself, if I was dancing with someone's wife at a party and he came over to cut in, what would I do?

Good luck with your next story and I wouldn't completely shy away from LW. It can be a great category. Just don't turn off the comments or the scoring. You'll see you'll get a lot of great feedback if you leave both on.

In Florida your bride gets legal rights to your real estate you owned before marriage. She gets final say when you want to sell it or give it away.

Loving Wives is a gladiator arena, so suck it up buttercup.

The audience throws rotten tomatoes and management cant care less unless the reader whines about your insults to them. Laurel is Emperor Commodus with his knife stuck in your back.

If yu post in LW, you don't get to whine. It's hater-land, a basket of deplorables. You're not dealing with hinged people.

You want a nice crowd, post to Erotic Couplings or Noncon.

Now that's the best one sentence summation of Loving Wives I've read yet. That's it in a nutshell.

Myself, I was briefed before I went in there, so when I dived in it was no surprise. It can be fun, but you have to have the right mindset and embrace trolls. I love my trolls, they're so over the top funny and sad at one and the same time.

Turn off anonymous comments ! Then after that , make sure anonymous comments are turned off.
The most passionate fans by far are LW fans , that's where the big boys and girls play. But if you want to take your ball and go home , then do.
