Loving Wives is all Cuckold???

So I want to post a series of stand alone stories that are based off of some personal fantasies. They'd be written in 1st person perspective and since I am married, I wanted them to be with my husband (names changed to protect the not so innocent, of course!). I thought of posting them to the Loving Wives category, since that's what it would be, me the loving wife! But scanning through the category, it's all cheating and cuckold!

WTF?

Not very loving...

Thoughts?? I guess I could put it under erotic couplings, or even romance. The fantasies are fairly kinky, involving a lot of cosplay, some anal (including first time), a little bdsm, non-consent fantasy and one example of a threesome. I didn't really want to be changing the category with every story. They are meant to be stand alone, but I FELT that the idea of the Loving Wife would be the connector. They're going to be titled "One Sunny January...December" and I have 12 planned in all. Don't tell me I'm getting ahead of myself, LOL, it won't help!

So.... what to do?

Ah yes, Loving Wives, the shark pool of Lit for new authors.

You have three groups there that fight over the rule of the roost. Cuckold, kill the cheating bitch, and last but not least, everyone female should get pregnant. Then there are a few really good wives that love their husbands. Those screw every group up.

I have two there that mean anything, the first was about a wife who loved her husband. There was dead silence, The second was about a wife that killed her abusive husband. Some very good comments after the shock and awe wore off.

Put them all in one category might work if Laurel the lady who reads all our trash and owns the place doesn't decide one category trumps another. Mixing categories in a series doesn't seem to hurt and in some cases it helps.

Just my 2 cents.

LW appears to be mostly but not entirely cheating/cuckold stories, yes. I haven't exactly done a full survey, but when cruising through the pages that seems to be the majority of the titles/premises.

That said: one of the hottest and most pleasant stories I've read on Lit was about a guy coming home from work to a smoking hot woman in lingerie who told him his wife had taken the night off but had left her there to take care of him, and there was of course much with the hot sex... and at the end of the story it was made clear that this woman was his wife (no disguise, he knew it was her) and they were just role-playing.

You can do a Loving Wives story about a genuinely loving wife in a solid, monogamous relationship, but yeah, it's hard to know whether anyone would go looking for such a story in the LW category.

It's My Story and I'll Cry if I Want To!

So.................... I'm just going to post it where I feel it's appropriate. I'm going to go with "Loving Wives" and leave a note to Laurel in the submission that if she thinks it would do better in "Erotic Couplings" then I'll go with that. Loving wives is described as "Tales of adventurous married women & their mates." It fits, so there!

What do your fantasies all have in common? That is the category

Writers have put faithful wife stories in Loving Wives...but it's not the best idea. The category should be labeled "cheating wives," as that what readers of it expect in their story. So much so that almost no one who wants to read a story about an erotic, faithful wife will go to that category to find such a story. So, you either get crickets (anyone who would read a story isn't there) or nasty comments. That's the rub. It's not just that readers of that category expect cuckold stories, it that they're trollish and will come down on your story if it doesn't satisfy them.

If you're after having people (1) read the story and (2) leave honest feed back on it rather than rude remarks, don't put it in LW. Luckily, having a couple be married doesn't mean that you can't post the stories in other categories. In fact, just about every other category you see has stories that feature married couples.

So, exactly what kind of fantasy is involved in these stories? If just an erotically sweet afternoon tryst, then erotic coupling is probably the way to go. If other things are involved, then why not post in other categories that appeal to that particular fantasy? Imagining your husband watching you as you act out (voyeurism), bit of bondage (BDSM), toys (Toys). If you want them all in one category, then decide what the fantasies have in common. Put them in the category that best reflect that common element of the fantasies.

Putting it another way, it's not the married angle that is going to decide who reads your story, it's the fantasy angle. A tag line of "Wife and husband have sex" isn't going to lure in readers. One that says "Wife and husband experiment with toys" will. So pick the category that fits your fantasy. Doing anything else is like baiting a hook and dropping it into a dry lake. You're not going to get any nibbles.

Meh.... Common Thread is Husband Fulfills Wife's Fantasies...

Being married IS actually the common thread to the series, and a large focus of the interior motivations. Everything else is pretty random, with the fantasies jumping all over the board. I agree, "Loving Wives" should be changed to "Cheating Spouses/ Cuckold." It's misleading. If I hadn't gone in and actually LOOKED at the stories, I would have been completely surprised.

I do hate trolls, though.... sometimes it IS fun to feed them though...

Erotic Couplings might work. It's a common enough thread since every single story WILL include sex, ROFL.

Meh...

<--- Grrr....

Erotic Couplings is more for the wank type stories that have not much but sex to them or stories that don't really fit anywhere else. Kind of a generic catchall.

I made that mistake when I first posted. The stories did well but would have done better elsewhere.

Believe it or else, from what you have said about the stories, romance might be your best bet.

You're right, LaSalia. The category should be renamed. We've come to that conclusion here about seven times a month for a decade or more. We reinvent this wheel weekly. I sometimes wish that the forum had a chute that redirected any post mentioning Loving Wives to its own section with a sign "read all of these first" posted above it.

Figures!

So... Why hasn't it been changed? I'm sure Laurel and the other owners know!

Ask her because we haven't had an answer and yes, we have asked before, many times.

Edited to add: As far as we know, Laurel is the owner.

Romance... Ack!

My first forays into sexual exploration were through Romance Novels. Historical and Sci-Fi, not the cheese in Avon. I learned a lot of interesting things there!

But the tone of my stories clash with my initial concept of Romance. Some of them would certainly be romantic, but most of it is just kinky...

I haven't even looked in the Romance category 'cause I expect it to be boring.

Your expectations of Loving Wives was wrong so....

TLW (true loving wife, aka non-cheating wife) stories are frequently well-received in the LW category. They may be romantic, erotic, exhibitionistic, focus on role-play, etc. Also, a FFM with wife, hubby and another woman are often well-received.
The erotic cuck stories will get slayed by commentors, but there is definitely an audience there. The cheating wife stories get mixed reviews: if it is BTB (burn the bitch) revenge-you will get positive reviews (no matter how terrible the writing); if it is reconciliation look out, some will hate it, others will applaud it-if it is written well enough. Ohio just posted a great one, and it still got slammed by trolls.
I think an erotic story with a wife and husband should go into LW. The readership there is vocal and large, which I think is an incentive for authors. I say, give it a go.
Good luck!

Romance

Believe it or else, from what you have said about the stories, romance might be your best bet.
I'm in agreement with TxRad. If the common thread is simply how much these two adore each other, and how much loving delight the wife gets from satisfying her husband's erotic fantasies, then you might as well put the series in Romance. Romance readers adore stories like that, with loving couples doing little, wonderful things for each other. And they especially love ones where the couple is married as it demonstrates that marriage can be romantic.

I'm betting that she hasn't changed the name because the morons who troll that category would never be able to figure it out.

It's so fucking insulting. Most of the Loving Wives stories are about men, actually-- men who get cheated on, men who get cuckolded, men who beat up the broad that had it coming to her. If your story is actually about the two people as a couple-- it won't fly in LW.

It's Posted

I decided to give Loving Wives a shot, and I got a lot of positive feedback, just not the best votes. Honestly, the comments are better than the votes. Still...

It drives me nuts the people here all take it so seriously! They're all like: "These two are heading straight for divorce!" because it was a threesome. Lots of male insecurities were brought to my attention. It was kind of funny, actually.

I asked my husband about this scenario before I wrote it, and he said, and I quote:

"I'd think you were joking at first, testing me, but if you weren't, that would be so hot!"

So now I'm even happier 'cause I know my man doesn't have any secret issues fearing he's not man enough for me or worried I'll sleep around. This could get interesting, since the next installment I think I'm going to use an open window and a little voyeurism! The men on Lit will likely doom my marriage once again, LOL.

But then, you know, you might be taking it all too seriously if you hyperventilate over the votes and comments in Loving Wives category--especially after getting a full discussion on what to expect there. ;)

Hell, I had so much fun with the last LW story, I'm doing it again.

A new one out there in a few days. :D

I have a very "nice" story in LW, posted several years ago, and it went over well. It was hot for a little while, but then the trolls bit it, I think. It still has a decent score and even some very nice comments. I was really surprised, to be honest.

I wasn't hyperventilating, who's hyperventilating? You're crazy, crazy I tell you!

I like to know what to expect, because it never happens.

Learning lots of nifty factoids

I have a very "nice" story in LW, posted several years ago, and it went over well. It was hot for a little while, but then the trolls bit it, I think. It still has a decent score and even some very nice comments. I was really surprised, to be honest.

I think mine went "hot" VERY briefly, and I got a little excited, before it plummeted down below a 4. It's hovering at 3.98 now and is my lowest ranked story. However, my incest story used to be 3.88 and it is now a 4.01, which I find impressive considering it's also tied for second as my most voted on story. People who visit your profile page are apparently much more forgiving than the ones who check the "new" list! So I still hold out hope.

It is re-evaluating my own method of looking at stories on this site. I used to not bother reading anything that ranked below a 4 'cause I figured it wasn't well written, thus the low score. Looks like writing abilities aren't a big factor (I've seen some "hot" stories that need SERIOUS editing) as literacy on Lit isn't as high as I'd expected, but then I might just be acting judgmental and mean... It is a free site.

Now I'm considering looking at stories based on views and perhaps even looking for some high 3's as they're probably good, but attacked by trolls. I love controversial ideas.

Anyone else experienced really good stories, or written what you thought was an awesome story (all your stories are awesome, right?) that got sucked down into a low vote?

Too many to tell about. But they get balanced (more or less) by the great stories that get great scores.

Thank you for bring this subject up.

I think they should create a new category called "Cheating Wife/Hot Wife/Cuckold". Some type of filtering system that separates these stories into a different area I think is better for everyone.

You have polls on here for everything else why not setup a poll and see how many people want to change the name or create a new category. If there is a significant response say a 1,000 people or more, then do it.

I am sick and tired of the hand full of jerks that think the LW categories is their own special playground. I am sure these same jerks consider drawing stick figure of animals on a cave wall as creative writing. If creating a new category will shut them up then let’s do it.
