NRA Cannot Be Dissolved by New York Attorney General, Judge Rules​

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York's attorney general was dealt a setback in her corruption case against the National Rifle Association on Wednesday, when a state judge dismissed her effort to dissolve the gun rights group.
Justice Joel Cohen of a New York state court in Manhattan said Attorney General Letitia James' accusations mainly concern private harm to the NRA, its members and donors, and which if proven can be addressed by targeted, less intrusive relief.

Yes, it’s mission has evolved. Civil rights advocacy plays a much bigger role today. The industry includes buyers and owners. That’s why individual donations represent a large portion of their revenues. And contrary to popular perception, they are not the only gun rights organization. There are number groups doing good work for you and I.

I tend to agree with the point below as well...

There is no need to destroy an organisation, simply because the CEO decided to participate in, and benefit from, illegal acts.

If I was an American, I would not be a member since it doesn't really deliver on anything I would want.

I merely meant to make the point that ACORN was of far, far greater value to our society than the NRA -- yet it took very little to destroy it. If that can happen but the NRA can survive all this, something is very wrong.
