let me run my theory past you...a person's bedroom style and the musical instrument they choose to play are somehow related, similar, kind of like people and their animal companions.

electric guitarists are rumoured to be a little on the wild side. Maybe drummers are more paddle-happy than most...?

Do you know play an instrument? hm, wonder what it might say about you.

I'm a violinist. It's rumored that violinists, sopranos, and trumpet players are the most egotistical people in the world. Perhaps that has some relationship to my 'pillow princess' tendencies...?

If I were to choose an instrument for my lover, I would probably choose viola. Thoughtful, slow-moving, enduring. Or maybe bass (any kind) because they manage to do the most outrageous things without attracting too much attention.

I play several different instruments, and I guess that would be true, I have a tendancy to be all over the place, adaptable to just about any situation I am put in.
My love plays the bass. And like the bass, he is understated, cool, and the strength behind our music.

neat, i play violin too and viola. i probably fit the violinist as manaic perfectionist stereotype - when my partner wants me to do something, i don't like to stop until i'm absolutely certain i'm absolutely on the mark with it. pride in presentation and all.

The person i'm sweet on is gifted, he knows how to play a lot of different instruments well, but since i've known him it's been drums. Steady and dispassionate or remarkably intense as it suits him. He'll always stand out as an individual in the middle of anything, and pyrotechnics & all he's strong and steadfast about things that are important. Strictly bedroom wise, the entire gig would definitely be sorely lacking without him.

lol, johnny mayberry, i just got your reference.
"no no no bad" what do you play?

I play bassoon, tuba, flute, and mallets, so that's too many to have a distinct room flavor, especially since I have to share decorating with my roommate. :) However, I do believe that instrument often expresses a personality trait. This works for me most of the time, except for that horrible flute player slut stereotype. One can be a slut no matter what instrument they play.

I'm a guitarist. Can you dig it?;)

I've got more passion than skill, and that probably does say something about me.

i play piano (and laughed the first time i saw the exaggerated way Tori straddles her bench, it was the 1st time i had seen anyone else do that...
and i play clarinet... which requires great breath control and precise tongue work.

That is so typical of me.

btw, i also refuse to date drummers. Aside from the mental illnesses they tend to develop because they're always the "forgotten" member of the band...

just think about it... these are guys who get into music so they can hit stuff with sticks. If that isn't misplaced aggression, i don't know what is.

I play the piano (classically trained) and I used to be pretty good on the pipe organ. I have no clue what that says about me as a lover but it makes me think of corny old jokes from my college days. LOL

I majored in music ed and had to learn all the instruments, but my primary is flute. Of course I've forgotten it all now.

Not sure what that says about me.

I Don't Have A A primary instrument . I Play Acoustic and electric Guitar, Violin, Fiddle, banjo, Steal Guitar, , And Although I cant remember the name i play the Chinese guitar Its A Traditional instrument. But professionally As a musician i Write songs for other bands. Not really sure what that says about My Personality or me. Any on with insights Let me know

::sits up in her chair, flexes fingers::

I was a band geek. I will always be a band geek. I am a bandaid, and will always be one. Saying that I have sterotypically locked myself into the "i only date muscial people." I have tried dating non musical people, it didn't work.

I've been playing instruments since I was able to climb onto the piano bench at home, I told my kindergarten teacher that no letter existed or was important past "G."

Oh, and I never went to band camp or touched a flute (but I have touched a few flutists *wink*)

Saying all that...

Nemo: yes ... I have found it always to be true, I have asked people I've met a few times if they ever played those ego instruments and I've always been right. If someone mentions if they have ever played an instrument, I guess what they played and 9 out of 10 I'm right (sad? I think so... haha)

to all those viola players out there: ::laughs ass off:: sorry ... its a bandsmen obligation tehe... you understand. Though I've dated two viola players and a violinist, I've learned that you're either very take charge do it my way in bed, or learners who want to be tought.

vegomaticrabbit: drummers are not the forgotten member... the bass player is... and usually the bass/drummer are the glue of the band. So I've noticed.

as for the sluty flute, no no no ... its the always suprising outgoing fighting ego of the bassonist coming out in you...judging from your posts you're not a snobby bitchy whorey aloof flute :)

Lead guitarists have that ego, if they're good and take pride in their instrument ... you're always going to be second to it.
Rhythm guitarists can go either way, I've learned them to actually be more submissive or a switch.
Drummers ... there is no doubt, they are agressive but knowledgeably.. and have the rhythm down hehe
Bass ... they'll always suprise you.
I personally love trombone players as well.

I've dated alot of musicians... sheesh... lol.

Personally... I've played... piano 13yrs , soprano sax 5yrs , barisax 3yrs, baritone (tc) 3yrs , subed on tympany 1yr , the obligatory clarinet 10yrs, bass clarinet 8yrs, learning cello 2yrs (getting really good) and want to move on to bassoon.
My principal for the past 7 years has been the bass clarinet.

We give good head, and are usually very experimental/knowledgable in the sexual area.
Be seen but not heard ;)
always suprised by us ... hehehe.

i could type more, but then again... I think I've said enough.

::sigh:: haha

LOL, that's me too. Married a musician in fact.(sax/oboe/arranger/conductor)

And no, I was never the prissy perfectionist flutest. I'm too weird for all that.

you noticed that the bass clarinet, basoon, oboe players are weird/quirky ones too? who is it in the string world? the harp and viola players?

Definetly viola, though maybe also cello.

Hmmm...guitar players definitely know how to use their hands. ;)

And they tend to be very patient in bed.

I love guitar men. :D

I've only known a few of each, but I've found that the low wind and double reeders aren't always quirky.

In high school, I played next to 3 bass clarinets over my 4 years, and at a music festival I met a 4th. I can vouch for them as being quirky and weird in their own ways...some more than others.

I've never personally known another bassoonist, but I've seen a few, and the way they present themselves seems very formal and high class...so unless they're hiding their quirky side... However, I can say that I am a self-proclaimed weirdo, so that fits. :)

And with oboe players, I've sat next to a few at music festivals and they're always so straight edge feeling and they act like they've been playing since they could talk and they're in the all-national bands and all the stuff...which usually is true.

In the string world...from my experience, the cellos and double bassists I've known have been crazier than the violins and violas. And for guitarists and bassists...all the one's I've known have had inflated egos (except for my girl Sarah, who's the only female bass player I know! :p )
