Love

The quote has nothing to do with ownership. That's just a play on words from people who want to be pissed off about something. The quote is saying that if you love something you shouldn't have to hold on for dear life to make it stay. If you can simply BE with that something (person) and they stay then it's all good. If not, then don't trouble yourself with it.

To answer the question:

I've done it. And twelve years later she came back. Things are better when you're older and wiser and can easily see the errors of your youth. Turns out I wasn't the saint I thought I was. LOL.

How true is the statement "If you love something, let it free if it comes back to you it's yours, if it doesn't it never was?"

Has anyone ever set something or some one free and had them or it return to you?

I think this is a bogus wives tale. It probably even has roots in Greco-Roman history, which might explain why men gave dildo's ) or Olisbos' to their wives before going off on long war campaigns ... How long does one wait? I dunno - we each have our measure and threshold ... but if someone "WANTS" to leave you these days? I would not "expect" them back for your own good. :)
