I'm looking to make a CD of love songs for Zerg and my third anniversary, but I'm stuck! He loves all love songs, but I'm the picky one. I prefer rock love songs (I know, it's weird). So far I have "With or Without You"- U2, "Even in Death"- Evanescence, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"- Aerosmith....stuff like that.

Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks to any suggestion! :rose:

Congratulations to you both!

OK, I'm gonna just say - who's CD is this? lol

Rock love songs.... I'm not too good with 'the youngins' music but....

There is a song, maybe the group is inx something... they're hard rock but put out a song that was quiet and sweet.... 'you wouldn't have to say it I'd already know' (something like that?) It goes back a ways probably.

But... if you'd like to include other music....Bonnie Raitt has some nice ones from the Luck of the Draw album (which came out in 1991 and THAT boggles my mind):

Artist/Band: Raitt Bonnie
Lyrics for Song: Not The Only One
Lyrics for Album: Luck of the Draw

I was in a daze, movin' in the wrong direction
Feelin' that I'd always be the lonely one
Then I saw your face, on the edge of my horizon
Whisperin' that I wasn't the only one
The lonely one

Once chance intervention, see what it can signify
The slightest misapprehension, baby
And we'd have passed each other by
When I heard your sweet voice callin'
Saw your light come shinin' through
I couldn't stop my heart from turning
Churnin' out my love for you, my love to you

I was in a daze, movin' in the wrong direction
Feelin' that I'd always be the lonely one
Then I saw you face, on the edge of my horizon
Whisperin' that I wasn't the only one
The lonely one

True love or perfection
It seems like it's overdue
Then just when you least expect it
It comes sneakin' up on you
When I thought that I was dreaming
Felt your body close to mine
Now love takes on a different meaning
Together till the end of time

I was in a daze, movin' in the wrong direction
Feelin' that I'd always be the lonely one
Then I saw you face, on the edge of my horizon
Whisperin' that I wasn't the only one
The lonely one

I was in a daze, movin' in the wrong direction
Feelin' that I'd always be the lonely one
When I saw your face through the web of my confusion
Whisperin' that I wasn't the only one
The lonely one

Keith Urban has a beautiful new song on his new cd Be Here:

Making Memories of Us.

Making Memories Of Us
(Rodney Crowell)

I'm gonna be here for you baby
I'll be a man of my word
Speak the language in a voice that you have never heard
I wanna sleep with you forever
And I wanna die in your arms
In a cabin by a meadow where the wild bees swarm

And I'm gonna love you like nobody loves you
And I'll earn your trust making memories of us

I wanna honor your mother
I wanna learn from your pa
I wanna steal your attention like a bad outlaw
I wanna stand out in a crowd for you
A man among men
I wanna make your world better than it's ever been

And I'm gonna love you like nobody loves you
And I'll earn your trust making memories of us

We'll follow the rainbow
Wherever the four winds blow
And there'll be a new day
Comin' your way

I'm gonna be here for you from now on
This you know somehow
You've been stretched to the limits but it's alright now
And I'm gonna make you a promise
If there's life after this
I'm gonna be there to meet you with a warm, wet kiss

And I'm gonna love you like nobody loves you
And I'll earn your trust making memories of us
I'm gonna love you like nobody loves you
And I'll win your trust making memories of us

I'll keep thinking. (I hope) ;)

For recent love songs you have to include:

Angels by Robbie Williams
I believe my Heart by Keedie and Duncan James
Come Away with Me by Norah Jones
White Flag by Dido
Out of Reach by Gabrielle

To name just a few :)

I always try and avoid the stuff u find of typical boring love song compilations and pick something a little more personal and thought out..
No offence to anyone who likes it, but i would hate a cd of love songs containing all the cliche'd stuff like celine dion, dido, whitney etc

Try:
everlong by the foo fighters
I wanna be adored by stone roses..
Be mine by REM
Some zero 7 stuff is always good.. and stuff by air too.. cant think of any tracks at the moment..
You should of come over - Jeff Buckley... infact hallelujah and lilac wine too.. most thing s of grace actually..
Sweet child o' mine - Guns and Roses ;)

Hope this helps..

I had a radio station play it once as a dedication to a special lady at the time..since I knew the DJ she played at the time I was out on a date ...the Lady I was with loved it and me for doing it. LOL I could do no wrong that night, but I love doing those those little romantic things that catch a person off guard.
