"You can't be serious Dad, you know very well we can't stand the sight of each other, half an hour with her and I would have my hands around her throat, but marriage, NO, no fucking way."
Beaumont D'Arcy stormed out of his father's office on the thirtieth floor of their latest acquisition, a tower block in the heart of Chicago. The woman he had been referring to was the only daughter of his father's business partner and to say the two youngsters didn't get on would be the understatement of the decade. They hated each other with a vengeance rarely seen between a man and a woman. It had started out as a date and was going well until his date threw her cocktail over the waiter for failing to put an olive in her cocktail, which was most unlike her, she was normally quiet and just did as she was told which was the way Beaumont liked it, to be in charge and demand what he wanted, Beaumont had called her an ill-mannered spoilt rich bitch and left her to pay the bill for the meal and drinks and find her own way home. From that moment on it had been open war between them and not helped by the fact that they saw each other practically every day as they were both learning the business with their fathers. The practicalities of them marrying were clear, if anything happened to either of the elders their share of the company would pass to their child and not be taken by the surviving partner, it would work both ways so Claremont D'Arcy and his business partner had agreed between them to make it happen.
