It had just been like any other day in Mike Tollin's life. Going up for breakfast, kissing his wife goodbye, heading for work. Nothing wrong with that. He and Bethany had been happily married for 20 years and Mike took comfort in the dayly routine. At 39 Beth was still the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and he loved her with his whole heart. Their soon Jacob was of for college and Mike was surprised that he missed having him home. He used to say that he couldn't wait for the kid to move out. Now that Mike had just celebrated his 41st birthday he missed the kid even more.

Not that he and Beth did not join eachothers company but she had changed the past month. He could not really pin point what was different. They had a good sex life, for a couple that had been married as long as them. However that was something that bothered him. Sometimes she was just reluctant to have sex, natural he guessed. Can't be in the mood everytime he is. Sometimes she just jumped him, demanding it. He just could not figure it out.

Mike are a tall guy at 6'1" with a fit body for his age. He generally works out twice a week. He usually says that he owes it to his wife. He have black hair and blue eyes. He works at a security firm which take him away on travel once or twice a months. Each time he is usually away only for a few days.

This particular day is the day before he will go to Iraq for a demonstation of the latest security technology. In a few days he will find that the faith he have in his wife may be crushed.

Bethany kissed her husband goodbye at the door and then closed it behind him as she watched him walk down the walk to his car that was sitting in the driveway. She stood by the window peeking out a small part of the curtain, and when she seen him look back she opened it more and waved her hand to him. She let the curtain slide from her fingers as she turned and walked into the kitchen cleaning it up after they had a nice full breakfast together as they did each and every morning for the past twenty years, unless he was away on business then it was only her, least for the first part of their marriage. Little did she know this day would change her whole life.

She woke up one morning and slid her arm along his side of the bed and felt the emptiness and sighed softly. He was away on another one of his business trips again and she was feeling a loneliness she’d never felt before. The house was now empty, their son Jacob was off and in college, and Mike seemed to have delved into his business more and more over the past few years. Bethany knew he did it for them, his family but what he didn’t realize was that with him going left her more alone now than ever before.

There were no more school activities to keep her busy with Jacob; there were no more sports events, there was no more anything. She tried assorted hobbies to keep her busy, but nothing ever caught her attention enough when she returned home to an empty house fill with nothing but darkness as she opened the front door. Bethany then decided to find a part-time job, one that when she woke up in the morning she would be happy to go to, not something she dreaded to get up for. She never wanted for anything, Mike was a very good provider, her and Jacob never wanted for anything. She would have even taken up volunteer work but an ad in the paper had caught her attention.

Part-time flower arranger needed. No experience needed. Knowledge of flowers and assorted plans would be helpful but not necessary. Will train one pleasant happy-go-lucky person that’s wants to work in a small self-owned shop. Apply in person at 408 E. Greenwich. 6AM-9PM.

Bethany got herself ready, placing her dark locks upon her head; she picked out a casual pair of black pants that flared at the bottom and a conservative white silk shirt. Digging through her closet she found a set of black five inch heels that went well with the outfit, and slipped them on, she then added a touch of make-up and left to apply feeling good about herself and very confident. Infact she hadn’t felt this good since she realized her 40th birthday would soon be coming around.

Arriving at the shop, she was there right after it opened; she wanted to show she was an early riser and a go getter type of person. Once she entered she toured about looking around and bumped into a very handsome male, who turned out to be the owner. They chatted for a bit, and she was hired that day six months back. Bethany never regretted taking the job; she went from part-time to fulltime working all hours for Blake. He taught her a lot about flowers, as well as taught her that her nights she felt lonely, she didn’t need to spend them alone anymore.

First it was lunch with her boss Blake, then dinner, it then progressed to a movie first in the theater and then in his home or hers. The affair started two months after she started working there and just progressed slowly, it bit her in the ass, she wasn’t looking for another man, and she loved her husband dearly, as well as their son but just hated the fact her husband was gone as much as he was. Their sex life wasn’t bad she just got used to the fact that he wasn’t about when she was in the mood as much and he wasn’t as open-minded in certain areas as Blake was. It was more or less, they never experimented much, part of it was her own fault for never opening up to her husband, then rest she didn’t wish to blame on him but it took two.

He was opposite of her husband in many ways, he was only five foot seven inches tall, he had a bit of a stomach and was a bit more emotionally open, and always complimented her. At thirty-nine Bethany stood five foot six inches tall, she had a small frame but rather nice sized breasts, she was well built and gravity hadn’t set in yet bit the crow’s feet, the few grey wild hairs that were blending in with her dark red curled locks. They kept it hush-hush, Bethany never wanted to hurt her husband of their son but the affair fell into a routine.

Today the same old routine, they had a nice breakfast, they both got ready for work and left at the same time as they kissed goodbye. Bethany went left, Mike went right, she had decided that she’d make an early day of it and have a nice dinner planned for him tonight since he was going away the following day but in business things arise and plans always don’t go as you plan them.

Mike kissed Bethany goodbye and walked out to his car. With the car keys in his hand he glances back. Bethany look so small where she stand behind the curtain waving her hand at him. He wave back with a little smile on his lips. He then open the car door with the key and slips in the driver seat. He decided to make it a short work day as it was his last at home.

He took a last look at his house before he started the car. He backed out on the quiet street and steered toward his workplace. So early in the morning he could drive without really paying any particular attention on the road. Not that he was careless. Mike had always been the cautious sort. That was why he expected to be promoted to vice president soon. That promotion was what had him so hard driven. It meant that he would never have to travel again if he so wished.

With a smile at the thought he drove in to the parking lot. He parked the car at his private parking space and exited the vehicle and locked the doors. He entered the building and was greeted by the door guard.

"Welcome Mister Tollin." Was the usual words that met him. He smiled at the guard.

"Morning George." He said and walked past the man. He took the elevator to the third floor to Barclay Securities. Old man Oliver Barclay would soon be retired and the business would be taken over by his son James. Leaving the vice president post to Mike. Mike sat down in the chair in his office and sighed at the piles of reports he had to go over. Another work day ahead of him.

Bethany drover her normal route to work that day, she stopped and watched as the kids crossed the street to the schoolyard and then went along her merry way. Humble Hearts sat in a remote area outside of town by the railroad tracks. It took her approximately forty-five minutes to drive there but it had become well worth the drive as time went on. It wasn’t due to the affair but she enjoyed her job immensely.

There women and men of all ages that stopped in the shop, whether it was for roses for a lover, or a bouquet for a fellow worker it kept her and Blake busy. He had inherited the shop from his grandfather who had it for many a years before he sold it to Blake, so there was already a steady business clientele. Blake never needed to worry about big name companies pushing his smaller shop under as they just didn’t have the same knack as he did, he was always more personal and soon Bethany was as well, she got to know who was who fast. Flowers came in and went out quickly none ever sat about to wilt. There was a younger local boy that helped take care of the small nursery in the backyard, that was a job in itself but there were always beautiful blooms to be sold.

She pulled her car into the small side and got out. Blake wasn’t there yet but she had keys to open the shop. She unlocked the door and flipped the closed sign to open and then flicked the lights and got her apron from the back and placed it on. It was a daily routine, open, and look to the orders that were for that day as well as deliveries. Once she was aware as to what was going on she began her day, gathering flowers and making arrangements.

Her back was towards the door as the bells chimed when it was opened letting her know there was a customer, her hands were filled with flowers at the time so Bethany didn’t turn around right away. She felt a warm breath upon the side of her neck, two hands upon her hips and a pelvis area rubbing against her rounded ass as she jumped dropping the long stem roses to the table as she turned quickly seeing Blake standing there with a grin. “Good morning my love, you look as beautiful as ever today,” Blake said as his lips met her for a long lingering kiss.

“M-m-m-m, you always know what to say and when to say it, especially when I need to hear it.” Bethany said as she broke the kiss and smiled giving him one more peck upon his lips as she nibbled the bottom one. “I’m going to go home early tonight; we only have fourteen orders and no deliveries. Tomorrow Mike leaves and as much as you hate to hear this, I’d like to make him a special dinner before he goes.” She placed her hand over his mouth, as he was about to speak, she could feel this tongue slip from his warm mouth and lightly tickle her palm as she continued to speak and trying not to laugh. “You know that I still love my husband Blake and I told you from the start that he would always come first no matter what, and if you couldn’t handle those terms I would quit and that would be the end of everything.”

Her hand fell from his lips as he nodded his head in agreement, “Look I know what we agreed on, neither of us expected this to happen but it did, granted I’m the one that made the first move, and I know you well enough to know you’ll say it takes two and I know this but I can’t but help to have fallen in love with you Bethany. I would spend the rest of my life making you happy and if I wasn’t I’d do anything to make you happy.”

“Blake, I told you even if I loved you I’d never tell you that. You have given me so much when I needed it and when I haven’t. Please just understand I need to be with Mike tonight, he leaves early in the morning.”

As much as Blake hated that fact she was married, he nodded as if he understood. Blake knew she was the one, she was who he was to walk life’s path with at his side and slowly he was going to make her realize the same thing. “That’s fine Beth I honestly understand, we agreed and I’ll stand by my word.” She leaned in and placed a kiss to his lips, letting it linger as his tongue slipped within her warm moist mouth, finding hers and twining as they dances the tongue tango with fire and passion.

The sound of the bells caused their kiss to break as she wiped her mouth and returned back to the arrangement she was in the middle of doing. Blake turned and looked across the store to see who enter as he greeted Scott Davenport with a smile, “How can I help you today Scott?” Blake asked. Scott and his family had been dealing with Blake’s shop since as far back as their when their grandfather were both alive and he was buying flowers for his own wife, Scott’s grandmother.

“The school’s having a benefit tonight and Lauren has been so busy with the kids and the new baby she forgot all about Melissa’s school function. Tell you what I don’t know how she does it with all five Blake; I’ll be the first to admit she’s got her hands full. With me at work all day and into the night that wife of mine is a saint. Anyways, I’m here because if at all possible I need fifteen center pieces, is that possible? I’ll even pay extra if that’s a problem.”

“Naw, no need Scott I get a delivery in a while I’ll have them ready for you to pick up say by six tonight how’s that?”

“Excellent, I’ll tell Lauren so that’s one less thing she needs to worry about tonight. I really appreciate this Blake; I don’t know how to thank you.” Scott said as she looked past Blake and checked out Bethany, as Blake watched Scott’s eyes run down her small frame and back up.

“Okay, I’ll see you then Scott.” Blake said as he stepped between Bethany and the counter blocking Scott’s view. Blake knew why Scott was out so late every night, and why his wife was such a saint. Scott had a lady friend holed up in the city; he’s been seeing her for about five years. She half the age of his wife and a buxom stripper he picked up in Dream Girls, a classy strip joint in the city. He watched Scott turn and go out the door listening to the sound of the bells chime once more and then turned and began to look over the list of orders and began to start the next one after the one that Bethany was working on.

“I guess you need me to stay later tonight hmm?” Bethany asked, as she hated to hear his answer knowing what it would be. She was dedicated, not because she was sleeping with him, but because that’s how she was.

“No Hon, you don’t need to stay I can fill the orders as long ass all these are done and delivered and the floral delivery is put away before you go. It shouldn’t take me long you can leave about four if you like.”

As the day progressed so did business at the shop, it seemed everybody and everyone wanted something today. Time flew by, the young kid who delivered for Blake got all the deliveries out on time, and Bethany and Blake got the delivery placed away, as well as the orders, by that time it was four in the afternoon and he still had the centerpieces to make. Blake began the first one as she was rushed for time; he had two hours to have all them done and ready to be picked up.

Bethany knew she couldn’t go and leave him with that many so she stayed to help him. By the time six came around, the shop was filled with fifteen new fresh blooming centerpieces and looked a mess. Scott was ten minutes late but he was there to pay and take them with him, Blake helped him load them into his vehicle while Bethany began to clean the mess up that was left behind. She turned to look to the clock and shook her head, it was now seven fifteen PM and it would take her another hour to get home if the traffic wasn’t bad.

He gave Blake a sultry kiss goodnight and headed home, of course traffic was backed up going into the city, she quickly grabbed her cell and left a message on their answering machine that she was stuck at work, then in traffic and would grab take-out for dinner and would be home as soon as she could. Nothing had gone her way that day, she wanted to give her husband a nice send off, perhaps part of it was guilt, but most was from the love she still had for him.

Bethany stopped and grabbed Chinese take-out and headed home finally, it was now going on eight forty-five PM by the time she pulled into their driveway. She gathered everything and headed into the house.
