Pardon a bit of ego here but I recently came off of a nearly year-long battle with the dreaded Writers' Block and published what I feel is my best story to date, PURPLE DAZE. I submitted it to the Erotic Couplings category but Lit, probably correctly, switched it to the Humor category which seems to be much less read. Still, my previous humor stories topped 6000 readers quickly. I plugged it on the New Story Advertisements and sent it on to some fans but, in spite of private and public praise, PURP hasn't even reached 1700 views after a month!
It's based on a true incident from a couple months back in which my 21 year old friend Natalie (see my The Interview Project # 4)asked me, a 45 year old married man, to help her dye her hair purple since her boyfriend was out of town. As this was the weirdest request I'd had in ages, I agreed. The whole thing degenerated into a comedy of errors and Nat suggested I write it up as one of my stories. The girl in the story combines personality elements from both Natalie and Meg (TIP # 3)and another old friend and the guy is me. It flowed easily from my imagination and effectively cleared my Writers' Block as I am now working on a dozen different things including a weblog and a Mystery short story assignment. Natalie loved it, my wife laughed like crazy and even another friend who doesn't care for erotica requested to see this piece. I guess, he said egotistically, I find it sad that so many Lit readers have NOT seen it so I'm here to ask you again to please try PURPLE DAZE.It deserves to be viewed at least more than 1600 times! It's hilarious but extremely, realistically hot toward the end.
Look for POP MUSIC Part 3 soon and I am FINALLY polishing up my long-announced TIGER STRIPES. Thanks for everyone's continued support! Here's the link:
