I just lost one of the books I write in. How do you deal with this? I am not one of those that remember the poems I have written. If I don't find that book those poems (as they are) will be lost to me forever.
Who thinks I am over reacting?

Who thinks I am over reacting?

When I moved a year ago I lost a cd on which I had saved about 200 illustrated poems I had created over a three-year period. Many of the poems were written only on the illustrations. Many of the illustrations were originals I had labored over.

I searched frantically for weeks. Then I cried. Than I wrote more poems.

You're not overreacting, but now you have even more reason to write.

I thinks it's worse when you don't cry as I have yet to do. Thank you for you comments.

not me.

that happened to me, though "lost" is not the right word. bottom line is, they're gone.

i sure hope you find them.

i haven't seen you react yet, let alone over react. *smile* if it were me i'd be climbing the walls and screaming like a wounded wolf, or something.

and then i'd sit down and think that it were a lesson well and truely learnt and in future i'd make copies of everything (see i do it now, because i learnt that lesson)... anything that i consider a poem (something complete enough to a reasonable draft stage and not just squiggles on paper) i type up and keep on a file. i also print out a hard copy. now, while i rarely back up my work, i at least have two places... some might say that i have twice the chances of losing things and they'd be right.

i'll keep my fingers crossed that your book turns up.

write about it. then it won't be lost

I have books and books and books in a box in the attic. They are there, in a sense lost as well.

Think of Jo in Little Women. Amy threw her book into the fire. She turned out okay :)

The poems are stil in you. The next time they come out, they will be better.

You are not over-reacting. I am just pointing positive :)

You sound like me. I get very upset about things like that. I lost a group of poems in the past, and it upset me greatly, but when I started writing better poetry, it wasn't such a big deal anymore. Make sure to have backup copies of all your poetry. :)
