=====
It was her first day as an official firefighter. There were many directions her life could have turned too. Many different paths she could take. She chose this one, in honor and memory of her father. Known across LA as one of the greatest firefighters they ever had, she had to follow in his footsteps. Besides, she loved everything about it. Yes, he life would be placed in high risk every time the alarm sounded. But she was willing to put it all on the line.
And when there was no one left in your life to be effected by your death, you could careless what happened.
Lugging her duffle bag over her shoulder. She was scheduled for an overnight stay. To say she was terrified was an understatement. She didn’t know what to expect. And finding our your chief was a real hard ass didn’t help. Only meeting him briefly about a week ago, she knew right off the bat he wouldn’t be pleased with her outgoing, bouncy and overly friendly self. So she liked to goof around every now and then. She wasn’t hurting anybody and wouldn’t dream of doing it when on the job.
Pulling wind tossed hair into a untidy bun as she walked closer to the firehouse, Chantelle spotted a few of her fellow firefighters busy at work. Washing the fire truck. They seemed to be having fun. She watched them through thick lashes and softly chewed on her bottom lip.
Well here went nothing…
“Hey?!” She called out to get their attention. “Busy?”
