Lorelei

Anyone who knows what went wrong with Lorelei and somehow does not feel for the situation, I don't know..... She had the longest and most awesome thread and quite a few devoted fans. I hope noone on here gets shafted like that . It really sucks when a fantasy comes crashing down!

What's the worst that could happen? She'd go off and live a nice life doing other things. Some things are better just passing through. It's the nature of this place, people come here to get it out of their system, and then go... I think this site is therapy for a lot of people on here: they go on, get their deepest craziness off their chest and then realize that they're not the only crazy people out there. If she comes back, fine. If not, it's not like she's dead.

In most cases you are correct but...

The difference in the case of lovely Lorelei:rose: is that she was blackmailed (both on Lit and off) by an anonymous ass-hat to either leave Lit, against her will:mad: or face real life exposure:eek: As, I think, most people here would agree, real life privacy and security trump Lit fantasy every time:rolleyes:

Back to my lurking...

She was very beautiful, and not just externally. She was always kind and polite to everyone, even those in whom she had no sexual interest or common interests with, including myself. What happened to Lorelei is why I cannot afford to post pictures of myself. I have no idea how many of my students, former students, or coworkers might be on Literotica, and I would like to be able to retire someday.

I don't know the woman from Eve, but isn't that part of the risk you take coming to a site like this and giving away too much of yourself? If being exposed is too great a risk to be worth the reward of whatever reason you come here and post pics of or share information about yourself, then perhaps one shouldn't give so much of themselves out.

This is not to say, in any way, that she wasn't all the wonderful things that people have been saying about her.

However, I know for myself, that I'm not about to share any part of me that would compromise anything on the homefront, personally or professionally.

Sadly, people are still functioning on the belief that what happens on the web isn't "real" or that it's some alternate virtual world. It isn't. The people you interact with, that get your information, that can hurt you or make your life wonderful are just as real as you are. It's not just another nameless, faceless computer that doesn't have free will or choice in how to handle whatever it is you're putting out there.

As I said, I'm not condoning what happened to her, but I AM saying that one should be careful what they put out on the net. Privacy isn't what you think it is.

Best to her, where ever she may be...

I agree, Lorelei is beautiful, inside and out. I'm glad I got to know a bit of her, through her thread and PMs. I felt saddened that when I came back to Lit, she had already left - her thread was one of my faves.

I get what you're saying, Julia. Some professions can a be a bit more "harsh" than others. I remember reading an article a few months ago about a woman who was appointed on the state Board of Education (or something similar) and she was "outed" as having written a few stories here at Lit, and she received flak from it. So I understand why you choose not to post pics. Like you, I also don't know if my friends or colleagues frequent Lit, so I am circumspect with regards to picture posting. This is not Facebook, and I don't want the pics that I posted here to suddenly appear on my/my friends' FB account!

I also agree with Red. There's always a bit of risk in coming to sites like this, so it's best to be circumspect with whatever you reveal of yourself - whether pics or info. I admire people who have the courage to post face pics at Lit, but at the back of my mind, I always think - wouldn't revealing their faces here have a negative effect later, whether personally or professionally? I sure hope not.

This is the same reason I do not post pictures, last thing I need is something from 10 years ago haunting me down the line.

I wasn't aware of the circumstances of her leaving, only that she had. Someone was really trying to blackmail her???

not trying. someone did. and part of the threat was a lie, but they knew her real name and details about her. They did not outright threaten but threatened to threaten. She promised that she would stay and play it out to flush that person out, but after a few days deleted her huge thread which means that the other person won...

I think we should find out who it is and kick his ass!! Just to to deter anyone from doing it again.

I agree. That person needs to be dealt with. In a very violent way.
She was the first person I talked to here on Lit and she took the time to reply. I was a fan of her work. It really pisses me off that someone would stoop that low and mess with someone like that.

I think people like that are pieces of shit and need to have their family and friends know how fucked up they are. Let them see how it feels.

and how do you propose to do that? If the threater has an ounce of sense, then he/she would keep his/her real life identity under wraps. And at the end of the day, (as lovely as she is) if lorelei was so worried about being outed in real life, then maybe she did cross the imaginary line that is keeping your real self protected from exposure

Nothing on the internet is secure. You can always find people. How do you think stalkers find the people that they obsess about.

i feel for her but real life is much more important that ampics.
