Non-entity?? I don't think he existed. I don't think many of the icons of most major religions ever existed. Their stories simply exist to teach morals and values throughout society, which is why, with the intermingling of different cultures and societies, we lose a lot of the benefits of religion, each seems to compete with the other instead of serving their purpose. Not through any fault of the founders of that religion either-and rarely through the faults of text. Mainly because people always like to be right and refuse to accept that someone else may believe differently than they-and that BOTH can be right. Or, at least, that's my experience.

I beleive that there was a historical man Jesus at the time of christian tradition because I find him in many era writings of pagan and christian writings both. Of course as you said the christian writings are going to report him regardless but when it is confirmed through other sources that do not share the christian view that there was a man named Jesus, then I beleive there was a Jesus but as to which he was.

And if it's true that he exampled the values that many of us like to think he did.

You are right he never requested it or demanded that people call himsuch but he did claim the title and position as such as it relates to godhead. I agree Jesus lead a meek and humble lifestyle. But He did make the claims of such is why I added it to Lair and Lunatic.
