Age: 19

"But Papa..."

"No, Lotus. My answer is final. Questioning your elders is disrespectful and does not show a proper attitude for a young lady."

"But Papa, I know I could do it if you would only let me train..."

"No! I have already lost one child to the sword I will not lose another. You must know your proper place in this world. You are meant to get married and raise a family. Your sons will become strong fighters with a will to match their mother's but you will remain here until the time is right to pick a husband for you. Now, go and gather the water for your mother. I will hear no more of this foolishness. I am your father and you will respect what I say whether you see my reason or not."

Lotus dipped her feet into the water with a sigh. It was good to feel the running water washing the dirt and dust of her trip away. She had been traveling for a long time. She knew she could not go home now. She had known she could not go home since the day that she had run away. The day that her father had made it impossible to follow her dreams.

She had grown up watching her father and her brother practice. She knew their moves by heart and she had always wanted to join in. The way the sun flashed off of the blades, the way they moved together in almost a graceful dance, the sound of the blades clashing together made an excitment run through her that started from her toes and worked it's way all the way up her spine.

She had begged her father to let her train as well but the answer was always no. She was a female and it was not proper. She was to make a good match and many children and bring honor upon the family in that way. No matter what she said she could not convince him that her path was different than the one he had set for her. And after her father had recieved word of her brother's death, things had only gotten worse. So she had made the most painful decision of her life. Waiting until nightfall, she had packed her meager belongings and run away. She would come back one day when she had proven to herself and her father that what she had done was right, that she could be a fighter just like her brother.

Putting her sandals back on, she stood and begin her stretching excercises, loosing up her muscles for her practice. Her movements graceful, her concentration totally upon what she was doing, she eased her mind and put aside the memories for now. When the exercise was done, she unsheathed her sword and began her practice, the one she had watched from the moment she was allowed to sit at the practice field. She had never been taught but had simply followed what she knew of her father's training for her brother. As her self imposed training wore on, beads of persperation broke out from her forehead but she did not head them nor did she stop. She was determined to become the best and show her father that she could, indeed, pick her own path and succeed at it.

Saitoh Toji

5’9”
155lbs
Long white hair tied into a ponytail with a red streak through it
Ice blue eyes
Has the Japanese char tattooed on his right hand for demon and a large one on his back
He wears a Red shirt with buckles around his neck, his pants are black and flow out, wears a red cape that has a hood on it, has the Japanese character on the back that means Demon.

He finds himself in a small forest, he sees all the trees are dark and heavy blocking the sun, but in some areas the sun broke through, the wind was a cool steady breeze and felt quite good, he smiled as he walked through and he heard a woman cry out. Saitoh jumped from the ground to the trees and he leapt tree branch to tree branch till he saw the woman practicing with a sword, she showed a lot of heart and potential, but she needed a teacher. Saitoh just sat in his tree and watched her, from up there he could not tell really what she looked like, but for some reason the sight of this woman made Saitoh’s heart start to beat faster. Saitoh was on the search of a soul mate, someone that could take all the pain and sad feelings from him, for all the people he killed and all the people that he could not help. Someone that would want to share their life with him, Saitoh Toji, formally known as a great Killer, a Killer Wolf, the Demon Wolf is what they called him. Saitoh didn’t like that name, but that is what the master of Hiten Misarugi Ryu, and Kamiya Kashinen, swords style, along with his knowledge of Kenpo, he now only wanted peace and to live his life with his soul mate. He would watch this woman and see what she was capable of, for some reason he was really interested in her.

Lotus continued her practice, unaware she was being watched. For a long time her body continued it's rigorous movements, pausing only when an exercise stopped and just before a new one began. Sweat now poured off of her face and her clothes were soaked in her own persperation.

Finally, fatigued and panting, she finished in a flurry of movements learned only through watching another fight and resheathed her sword. Standing for a moment, she let her heartbeat and breathing slowly return to normal before calling the session to a close.

Now she was sweaty and hot. The feeling was uncomfortable. Not realizing that someone was near, she began to strip out of her clothing until she was bare, her body glistening from her work out. Releasing her dark, waist length hair from it's bindings and without hesitation, she dove into the water, disappearing from view for a moment before her head broke the surface of the water once more, her hair wet and molding to her body. Shivering at the change in temperature around her she began to swim leasurely, taking pleasure in this small moment of peace and tranquility.

Saitoh

He watched her graceful movements and he smiled as she went through many forms, she showed that she had potential, but she needed a Sensei, than he saw her strip from her clothes and walk to the lake, he saw how her body was well developed, her breasts were large and round, had perkiness to them and he knew they were firm, her stomach was flat and showed muscle, her legs were defined and sexy looking and her hair was simply amazing, raven black color and long to her waist. He wished he could see her eyes and a smile, but he wouldn’t reveal himself to her. He could feel himself getting aroused, but he pushed those thoughts from his mind and he sat back on the tree branch and waited for her to come back. He thought of maybe going down there and teaching her, but he didn’t know if he should, what was her story? He was going to find out. He moved a bit and he shook the branch a bit and leaves fell.

Lotus swam along the stream and then, with a strong kick of her legs, turned and came back to where her weapon and clothes lay. As she began to climb from the water, she saw from the corner of her eye one branch of a tree nearby shaking, the leaves falling as it did so.

Quickly she dived back into the water to her neck watching the tree for more movement. It was not the wind for the other branches were still and no breeze blew through the glade. It may be a small animal hidden there simply looking for food for it's dinner. Or it could be danger.

Glancing at her sword, it seems so much farther away than it had before. It was definatly out of reach from where she sat in the water, paddling to keep her head afloat, her hair fanned out around her. She could dash up and grab the blade, hoping that whatever was within the branches was either harmless or slower than she were. If she were wrong, if whatever was there was dangerous and quicker than she was she may be facing death before she reached it.

However, she was certaintly vunerable here in the water, naked and without a weapon. At least if she tried to pick up her weapon she would not be unarmed when and if an attack came. Making her decision, she slowly moved to the edge of the stream, waiting for a moment before pulling herself up onto the bank and dashing towards the sword she had left laying there.

Saitoh

He slapped himself and fell out of the tree and quickly he stood up and walked towards her with his hand up and one hand covering his eyes.

“Oro, I am sorry, I didn’t mean to spy on you, I was only passing through when I heard your scream, I thought you were in trouble, but I saw you were only practicing your Kendo. I myself am a swordsman; I know Hitten Missarugi and Kamaya Kashin style. What style do you know?”

He looked at you through his covered eyes, and he smiled at you, he didn’t tell you that he was a master at his style, but he just let you know, if you have ever heard of the styles, you knew them as styles of protecting people.

“If you would cover yourself, so I can take my hands off my eyes, and don’t worry I am not here to hurt you, if I was I am sure your Samurai instincts would have told you already. So what is your name, I am Saitoh Toji. A wandering Samurai.

Lotus reached her sword, unsheathing it and spinning around coming into a crouch, sword raised as the stranger approached. She watched his every move her eyes never moving from him as he came toward her.

She said nothing, not answering his questions, only studying him for some sign that he ment to attack her. When none came, she slowly let her sword down and resheathed it, reaching for her clothes and putting them hastily on, then strapping her sword at her side.

"You may uncover your eyes," She said to him when she was done, still not totally trusting this stranger for she had been on her own for a long time.

Sitting down on the ground, she began to do up her still wet, long hair, tying it with a black ribbon that seemed to blend with the darkness of it. Always she kept her eyes on this man before her not daring to let down her guard even though he seemed to be a practitioner of arts used in aiding others.

"I am no Samari," She said at last,"I have no Sensei. I practice only what I have seen others do so I have a mixtures of styles I suppose."

Finishing with binding her hair, she ties it in a loose loop on her head so that it is out of the way and will not interfere with her fighting.

"And my name is Lotus," She added almost as an afterthought.

Saitoh

He looks and he smiles at her, but than he sees her put her hair up, and hide her beauty, he than frowns and you feel a strong wind blow and you see him vanish out of thin air and your hair falls and your black tie is in his hands where he was standing not even a 2 seconds before. He than smiled at you.

“Your hair looks much better down and you don’t even need this.”

He holds your sword out in his hand and he smiles again at you.

“Yes I am not a ordinary samurai, I use my Hitten Misarugi and Kamya Kassian style to protect the weak and defenseless, and might I add you do have very lovely eyes. I am sorry if I have alarmed you, but I just thought you should give the sword up and become a wife for some man, the sword does not fit you, you would not like the repercussions of it, seeing the blood of your opponent all over your hands and body, it is not a pretty sight, trust me I know. I try not to kill, I don’t like the feeling of taking someone’s life, and I only like to help life.”

He looked to you and he didn’t even know if he was making sense, all he knew was he had her sword and her black hair tie in his hand and he liked looking at her and was interested in knowing more about her.

“So Lotus, what do you think? Blood and battle do not fit you, I want to see your life spark go on, I hope to maybe in the road down, to see your with a husband and your love flowing, I want you to be happy, I don’t want you to have this blade so you can kill with it. I already know you are not a killer; you just don’t have it in you. So, go home and have a nice life.”

He walked away from you and followed the river.

Lotus' mouth drops open as a wind seemingly takes her ribbon from her hair and she looks up to where the stranger stands, her ribbon and sword now in his hands.

Listening to him, she frowned and than glared at him. How dare he tell her what she should do and what her life should be like! As he began to walk away with her things in his hands, she jumped to her feet and runs after him, speeding up and stopping in front and facing him, an angry look on her face.

"How dare you!" She said as she stood before him, arms crossed at her chest, her dark eyes even darker as she fumed at him,"Who are you to tell me what kind of life I am suited for and where I should go and what I should do?"

She looks down at his hands and, only then, sees the tatoo upon it and begins to step back a pace before stopping herself and standing still, determined to face this...being...that would treat her like this

"I don't know who...or what...you are," She said stomping her foot on the ground,"But I defied my father because he wanted me to stay home and have a husband picked out for me and spend my life wasted away as nothing more than wife and mother, doing nothing but serving my husband and seeing to his career. Who are you to tell me what my dream will be? Give me back my sword and ribbon, now!"

She held out her hand in front of her, chin set and eyes blazing, refusing to move until he had done what she asked.

Saitoh

He looked at her with shocked look.

“Oro?”

He moved to the side and tried to move around her, but she stopped him, he than tried for the other way, and she stopped him. He than raised his hands and showed you the peace sign and he turned around and he ran the other direction at a quick pace, when he felt he was at a far enough distance he leaped to the treetops and he sat and sighed.

“She needs not to wield a sword, there is no reason to corrupt such a beautiful woman. If she is being forced into marriage, than I hope she can find a man that she falls in love with and than be happy with him. I don’t want her to get herself hurt or killed cause she is a swords artist, there are crazy people out there that fight just cause they see a sword, and I need to not see her fighting. For some reason I feel something for her, but I know not what that feeling is. But I will not see her with this sword.”

He sat and he looked to the ground where he would see her coming up soon, he hoped.

Lotus gasped in frustration as the demon-man took off running with her items. Why was he doing this? What was she to him that he would make such a statement and then be so persistent in his refusal to give her back her own possessions? What did it matter to him if she fought or not or went home or not?

She broke into a run after him, chasing him down until she came to the tree that he was sitting in. Standing at the foot of it, she looked up at him and frowned.

"Come down her now!" She demanded, hands on hips, her loose hair swaying about her, blowing in her face so that she had to push it back just to see him. "Give me back what is rightfully mine! You have no right to take them from me!"

When he did not she stamped her foot again,"If you dont give them back to me I will come up after you. And if that doesnt work I will just go to the next village and get another sword...and ribbon...you are only delaying my training, not stopping it!"

Putting her own words into action, she scrambled up into the tree, using the branches to steady her. She had almost reached the branch he was on when the one she was holding broke and she began to fall backwards, with a small shriek of fear, toward the ground once more.

Saitoh

He could only smile at her as she threatened him and he saw her start to climb the tree, but the one branch lower than the one Saitoh was on broke from the tree and Saitoh looked wide eye and he reached down quickly and grabbed her wrist and caught her, he looked very scared for you and he had the look of protection in his eyes, you did see that he was gazing into your eyes as he pulled you up and he your sword strapped to his back with your ribbon tied to it and he smiled at you.

“That was a close one Lotus. Are you ok?”

He breathes hard and he looks to you with concern. He pulls out of his bag a water skin, he holds it to you.

“Lotus, here drink some water. I do hope you are ok lov…”

He than looked to you and blushed as he shook his head.

“I am sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable, but that word just comes easily around you for some odd reason, I don’t know you, but I feel so comfortable around you. I am babbling.”

He pulled you into his arms and he leaped down and landed on the ground and he set you down and smiled at you.

“If you really are going to go back to town and get another sword and ribbon, than here take your sword, but I am going to keep your ribbon for a memento, if you don’t mind. I must go now. Good to meet you and talk with you, I do hope you give up the sword and find love and live happily. Goodbye.”

He walked away from you, and a few minutes later you heard yelling coming from down the road. If you bothered to go and check it out, you saw Saitoh in a fighting stance with his sword still sheathed, and he was surrounded by 5 other swordsman wearing dark clothing and straw hats, you heard Saitoh telling them to just sheathe their weapons and walk away, and they didn’t want to fight cause its not worth it. But the other men did not listen, they attacked with there swords and spears, Saitoh only stood there holding the hilt of his sword and closed his eyes, he than in a flash of light drew his sword and swung it and took all 5 of them down in what seemed like one swing. He ended this battle with sheathing his sword and sighing.

“Hitten Misarugi, Kamiya Kassien style, for protection, not killing. That was called light blade slice. Rest well now, and I hope you lead happy lives. Find the right path.”

His attack was a multiple attack maneuver and he swung so fast, that it only looked like he swung once. His sword style was mainly based off how fast he could draw his weapon and how fast he could swing his sword, but he only used it to protect people and himself. His sword did not kill those men, it only knocked some sense into them. He walked down the path to the forest and smiled as he looked to the blue sky and clouds.

Lotus clung onto Saitoh's hand as he pulled her to safety. She nodded at his question and clung to the branch beneath her. She took the water skin and began to drink but then stopped and looked at him in a puzzled way at his slip.

Giving a little gasp of surprise as he gathered her up easily in his arms and lept to the ground, she found herself clinging to his neck taking her arms from around his neck slowly as he put her down.

Then he walked off and left her there, sword in hand, looking at his retreating back dumbfounded. It only took a moment for her to decide to go after him and she ran the way he had gone, stopping as she came to the scene before her.

She gasped at the attack, she couldn't believe five men would attack one and her heart lept with fear for some reason as she saw it. Then she gasped with surprise as he took them down so easily. It took her some time to realize that he was leaving again and, again, she raced after him, catching him by his sleeve to stop him.

"Wait," She said as she panted for breath from all of her running that morning,"Wait! Could you, I mean would you teach me? As I have said I don't have a teacher. I don't know how I would pay you but I would try and find a way. Please, this is very important to me. I have to prove to my father that I can do this. That it is no mere girl's dream."

Saitoh

He looked at her and smiled again and kept that look of peace on his face, it didn’t even seem like he was in a battle from the look on his face, he looked down to your sword and took it from you again and threw it into the lake.

“If I am to teach you, than you will not use a killers weapon, you will use a wooden sword. I am a Master of Hitten Missarugi and Kamiya Kassien style of protection and I only use those styles to protect, I don’t know really if I am qualified to teach you, I have never taught anyone and I can already see you only want to learn the arts of a sword so you can prove yourself, and than after that what will you do? Besides, it is far to dangerous to travel beside me, long ago I traveled beside the immortal killer the Demon Wolf, a great swordsman and master of the same styles I know, but I could not stop his blood thirst, he killed many in the war 10 years ago, and now he has vanished from the world and that is a good thing, so I now just am a wanderer, and have made enemies along the road and I do not want you to get hurt, it would kill me to see such a beautiful sprit killed or hurt. I am sorry I threw your sword away, but like I said before, you do not need it, there is too much violence in this world anyways, don’t add anymore to it. Instead find yourself love and have kids and be happy, we are living times of peace now. Enjoy it, now I must be going, take care Angel.”

He again smiled at you and he bowed, he than grabbed the end of his red cape and pulled it in front of him and he walked off into the forest once again. He thought of that young woman and he smiled as he shook his head.

“She is far to innocent and harmless to learn the ways of the sword, I do not wish to bring violence to her sweet and innocent soul. Please don’t make me.”

He talked to himself quietly as he walked along the river now.

Lotus' mouth gaped open as he grabbed her sword yet again and then tossed it into the lake. What was with this guy and his fetish that she not use a sword? What was she to him anyway? And why was he calling her 'Angel'?

Speeding up after him once again, she faced him and made him stop. "Do you realize what you have just done? You have thrown away my only protection! And the next town is miles from here. My home, that you seem to want me to go back to so badly, is even farther than that. You just got done beating up on five guys. You don't think that they have friends around? What happens when they find me walking all alone without a means to protect myself?"

She crossed her arms and looked hard at him. "It looks like you are now stuck with me whether you like it or not! You got rid of my sword, you have to take me along now!"

Not waiting for an answer from him she started walking off in the direction he had been headed. "And don't try to sneak away. As far as I'm concerned you owe me a new sword and I am sticking with you until you come across with one!"

Saitoh

He had a confused shocked look on his face and his mouth hung open.

“Oro?”

He than ran after you and was on his knees crawling after you.

“Please, you can’t come with me, there is a small village where you can catch a caravan to go where ever you live, it is far to dangerous to travel with me, wait…”

He turned his head back to where he left the others and he saw they were still down and not awake, but he sensed something, he looked to the trees and he suddenly pushed Lotus down to the ground and she fell back with her back to a tree, he hoped that she was ok and he didn’t push her to hard, he did not draw his Katana, but he drew a smaller blade, he drew his Kodachi, and he held it backwards, the blade behind his wrist, he than swung his arm back and forth, you heard a sound of metal against metal and you than saw 5 small dirks lying on the ground and he stood there in a fighting stance.

“SHOW YOURSELF! OR I WIL FIND YOU AND DEAL WITH YOU!”

You than saw 3 men standing before Saitoh and one step forward and he was wearing all white and had a long gold staff with rings on it, he looked like a monk of some kind, he had beads on his neck and everything.

Monk>”Saitoh Toji, formally known as the Demon Wolf back in the War of the Elders, we are here to kill you and claim the title of the ones that killed you, and collect the bounty on your head. We don’t know who this woman is, but she will die cause she is with you. Now prepare to die….

As he spoke, Saitoh let out a primal scream and seemed to vanish and you saw the two behind the monk fall to the ground and than you heard.

“YOU WONT HURT THAT ANGEL! HITTEN MISSARUGI KASIEN STYLE WILL PROTECT HER! HITTEN KASIEN YUGISE!”

He than had his Katana and his Kodachi in his hands and he made a cries-cross slash and the monk flew about 20 feet away and had a large x scar on his chest and he was unconscious, Saitoh sheathed his weapons and stood up and walked over to Lotus.

“Are you ok Angel, I am so sorry that I pushed you that way, but I did it to protect you. And I hope you can forgive me. I will not get you a new sword; I will escort you to the small village coming up and than you will never see me again. As a favor that I just saved your life, do not pick up a sword ever again. Now we must move quickly, for it is getting dark. Here let me help you up Angel.”

He again smiled at you and his eyes seemed to sparkle as he looked to you, and he held his had out to you.

Lotus

Lotus gave an 'ooff' as she was pushed to the ground her head striking the tree but only lightly dazing her. She was barely aware of what was happening except that Saitoh was protecting her from three men bent on killing them. She blinked as they fell at his feet and looked up at him in puzzlement.

Taking his hand, she stood and swayed against him, waiting for the dizziness to pass. When it did, she looked up into his face, a smile there as she caught his glance and held it with hers. There was something about this man, something about how he tried to protect her and called her Angel. But she wasn't going to admit that to him. She wasn't going to be left behind in a village either. If nothing else, she was a very determined young lady.

Moving closer to him, she stood on tiptoe and whispered into his ear. "I am not going to be left in a village by myself waiting for a ride home. I am not even going home, I promised myself I wouldn't until I could make my father proud and I intend to do just that. I am coming with you and you are going to teach me to fight. I don't care if it's with a stick, a staff or my hands. If you try to leave me I will join those tracking you down. You will never get rid of me, I promise you that."

Placing a small but lingering kiss on his cheek, she stood back down flat on her feet and gave him an even wider smile.

"I think its about time we made camp, don't you?" She said as sweetly as she could,"Lets pick out a good spot. Humming, she moved ahead looking all around for a pleasant glade to set up for the night.

Saitoh

He stood there wide eyed and his mouth hanging open, his eyes were dizzy circles now and he fell to the ground with the other men in shock that she just kissed me and that she wouldn’t leave his side. He just lay there until she got the picture that he was not getting up. He than finally picked himself up and he walked over to her, he saw that she pretty much had everything set up.

“Uhhh, Angel, you cant travel with me, its far to dangerous, and I am not qualified to teach you anything. Look I will escort you to the village and from there, we go our separate ways. That was quite a kiss, wow.”

He looked to you and smiled as he fell down on the ground again as he thought about it again. You saw a pile of weapons and they were the weapons of the men that Saitoh beat up, there were a few swords, but none looked to impressive, there was the monks staff and a bunch of dirks, a chain and blade, and a few other crappy looking weapons, Saitoh only laid on the ground and sighed as he looked to you.

“Besides, I am a horrible person to be around, so you might as well wait for a caravan to come and pick you up and you can travel back to your home. I am not a good person to be around, you will get sick of me and want to kill me after a day or two. Trust me, I am not a nice guy.”

He seemed as if he was begging you to not follow him.

Lotus ignored his comments and kept setting up the camp, humming as she did so, building the fire pit so that they could cook something for dinner.

Catching his comment about her kiss, she laughed as he fell to the ground still protesting. Standing, she came and knelt by his side, her dark hair, lose because he had her ribbon, falling down to frame her face and making a sort of shield around them as she leaned in closer to him, blocking out everything in his sight but her face.

"Oh, but I have every confidence you can train me and I have no intention of getting on any caravan and going anywhere." She placed her hands lightly on his chest, grasping the front of it and bringing his face even closer to hers. "And how can I kill you if I don't have a sword? hummm?" She murmured as she touched his lips with her own, softly at first and then with more pressure, making the kiss now last a very long time.

When she lifted her head she was smiling, her eyes twinkling. "Now, we need something for dinner. Fish will do. You go get the dinner and I will get the firewood and start the fire." She brushed his lips with her own one more time before getting to her feet and moving off to find some deadwood for a fire, humming a tune to herself and skipping a bit as she walked.

Saitoh

He watched her set the camp up and what she did next was very unexpected, she knelt by his side and she leaned in and kissed him lightly, and it was longer than the last kiss. Saitoh, wouldn’t let this happen there was no feeling, she could find someone a hell of a lot better than he, he scooted away from her and rolled to his feet.

“Lotus, that was to good, but I am nothing. These feelings you have should be for a home guy, not a wanderer, and you may think I can teach you, but I don’t think I can. I will go and catch some fish, or at least try. I have never been a good fisher, but I will try. I will be back soon. Here take this just encase something happens.”

He threw her a small dagger and a sheathe of dirks, and he ran off into the forest heading to the river. As he walked he thought of her, she was so beautiful and so enchanting, he was lucky to have escaped her. To get to the point, he didn’t deserve such a Angel, she should be a queen to a king.

“That’s, it, she will not seduce me, I will find her the perfect man so she can fall in love with him and be happy for the rest of her life.”

He walked to the river and saw many fish swimming around, and he thought about how he was going to catch them, he looked at his hands and he kneeled down by the edge of the river and watched the fish move about. He would just hang out here and than catch some fish and return it and than he would continue on his journey, she was just playing with him, he knew that, he just figured that out, she was doing this cause he threw her sword away and didn’t want to train her. He knew what was up now, and he wouldn’t fall into this trap.

“She wont play me, I wont let her trick me into thinking she had feelings for me. Why didn’t I see it before? But I figured it out now.”

Lotus hummed as she gathered firewood, something she had not done in a long time. She couldn't understand it herself. She had had a horrible day. She had met a totally obnoxious stranger who could fight off many men at one time but who seemed frightened to death of a simple kiss! Her sword had been thrown in the drink by said stranger, her ribbon had been taken by him so that her hair now fell down around her shoulders to her waist, getting in the way of whatever she was doing and she was humming!

The thought of it made her laugh. She should be extremely upset right now, fuming! But she wasn't. She couldn't get out of her mind the scene where he had come to her rescue like some prince protecting the honor of his princess. She was no princess but the fact that he had done that, had stood up for her....

She sighed. Her she was trying to prove to her father how indepenant she could be, how she did not need to have a man to marry and protect her and she was going all soft about the first man who did. Well, not marry her but try to be her protector. She hoped she wasn't that silly girl that everyone thought she was. She had tried to hard to prove she wasn't. Still..

She had come back to the camp and set down the firewood by the pit. Looking around, she could not see Saitoh. Now where could he be? Searching all around the camp she still could not find him and she felt a worry start to grow within her.

Had he run off on her? Leaving her alone in this place? She couldn't believe he would leave her here defensless with only a few throwing weapons.

Her hand came up to her mouth as it form a small 'Oh' as another thought struck her. Could he have been attacked, this time by more men than he could handle? Was he laying somewhere bleeding to death right now with some ugly thugs standing over him and laughing and bragging how they were the ones to kill him?

She felt her heart being squeezed at the thought and she immediatly forgot about the fire and ran off down the path she had seen him take, the dagger clutched in her hands as she looked frantically about.

"Saitoh!" She called out not even thinking that she would be in danger if whoever attacked him heard her. All she could think about was the fact that he might need her. "Saitoh! Oh where are you?!" She ran faster than ever, her breath catching in her throat as she neared the water.

Suddenly she saw him, unharmed, kneeling by the river bank and relief flooded over her as she sped over to him, jumping on him and wrapping her arms around him, dropping the dagger in the process and completly bowling him over so that they both fell into the edge of the water where it came up on the sand.

"Saitoh!" She breathed as she lay on top of him in the water, partly in relief and partly because she had run so hard. "I thought something had happened to you! It shouldn't have taken you this long to catch a fish! I kept thinking someone had attacked you and hurt you and...." She looked around with a puzzled look not seeing either fish or fishing pole.

"Oh! I see the problem!" She said getting up and moving to the edge of the treeline and picking up a straight branch. Coming back to the water's edge, she picked up the dagger and tore a piece of her clothing off to bind the dagger and stick together.

Squatting down on the water's edge, she waited quietly as the fish swam around in the clear water below, the make shift spear held above her until, with a quick movement, she thrust the spear into the water and brought it back out, a wiggling fish on the end of it and a triumphant look on her face.

"See? Nothing to it," She turned to smile at him and held the spear out to him. "You try it. It's easy, I promise!"

Saitoh

He saw her rushing at him and he knew she was not trying to harm him by the sparkling look in her eyes, so he did not move, for two reasons, one so she would not fall into the lake and two so she wouldn’t hurt herself. So he let her tackle him and he said this when he heard her yell his name.

“Oro?”

He than smiled at her and sighed in relief as she got off of him and she than had a confused look on her face and he than knew why, he only smiled at her.

“Well, I could do that, but I didn’t want to catch the fish here. They are to free to catch, there is a place a few miles down river and they are more for catching, these are ones that are just wandering and I do not wish to catch them. Please don’t spear anymore, it would do you good.”

He just smiled at you and he watched them again as he knelt beside the edge of the water and watched the fish swim about.

“Why were you worried about me for, I have been a mean person to you and you cared for me, or is it because I have to escort you back to the village for safety reasons? I will take you there in the morning, for now go back to the camp and get some rest, I will be there in a few minutes. Thank you Angel.”

He just stared at the water and he glanced at you every now and than, he knew the game you were playing and he didn’t like it.

“I will escort you to the small village and than you will get on the caravan and go home, this is no place for a beautiful Angel like you. So go and eat and get some rest, we have a walk tomorrow, I will be there in a bit.”

He than muttered something to himself, he didn’t think you heard.

“You only care cause you want to take something from me, or you want the bounty on my head, there is no reason to be kind to someone like me, its all because I threw your sword away so you want to get even with me…blast.”

He stood and he walked down the river and it almost seemed as if he was vanishing and reappearing with ever step he took, cause one-step and he was 10 feet ahead every time. And soon he was gone.

Lotus

Lotus just looked at Saitoh in puzzlement at his reason for not catching a fish and laughed, putting her spear down with a shrug. If he did not want her to catch the fish here than she would not.

Sitting down beside him at the stream, she took off her sandles and put her feet into the running water, giggling sometimes as a fish would swim across them or nibble at her toes. The forest about them was beautiful and everything was so serene here with him and she didn't want to leave this place, the feeling was so peaceful.

At least it was peaceful until he started talking of leaving her at a village again. Refusing to answer, she simply set her jaw and stared out at the lake determined as ever that she was not going to the village, she was not going home, she was not going anywhere but where he went.

When he mentioned it again, she crossed her arms before her and refused to look at him. She was not going! He would just have to find that out the hard way!

Then her mouth dropped open as she overheard his whispered comment and her anger flared up. How dare he think that that was why she wanted to go with him! She didn't know herself at that point why she did! She did know that him throwing her sword away was not the reason. And to think she wanted the bounty on his head! He himself had said she was not fully trained.

Jumping to her feet as he walked off she glared at his back. He seemed to be traveling faster than anyone she had ever seen before. She thought about running after him but then she stamped her foot. No! She wouldn't run after him! Let him think what he wanted to...she was tired of arguing with him. At least now she wouldn't have to listen about going to the village and back home. She would just let him walk away...yes, that is what she would do!

But she found that she couldn't. She also knew she couldn't keep up with him.

"Fine!" She yelled to him as he walked away,"Think that! I don't need you! I have made it on my own so far, I don't even know why I wanted to be around you! You're right! You are mean!"

Snatching her sandals from the ground she stomped back to camp, hopping as she tried to put them on as she walked. She felt tears begin to fill her eyes and run down her cheek and she wiped them away angrily. Why should she cry over him leaving? She was acting like a foolish girl, not a fighter.

Still, she could not stop the tears as she made her way back to camp, the happiness she had felt for the last few hours gone, her heart heavy. Making a fire, she sat down before it, hugging her knees to her and staring into it, jumping at every noise, turning to see if he had come back.

"You are a foolish girl," She said out loud to herself,"You are crying over a man you have just met. One who wanted to take you back to your father who would be very displeased with you. Just because he was trying to do it to keep you safe does not mean that he felt anything for you and pretty names don't mean that either. So, he protected you! He already said he protected everyone he could. You were just another person he was protecting. He was going to get rid of you as soon as he could anyway."

But the words did not help ease the sadness in her heart and she found she could not just sit there and do nothing about it. At least if she found him, she could tell him off for pretending that she was someone special.

Standing up, she walked back down to the lake and began to follow it the way he had gone. The night was drawing near now and it was getting hard to make out any footprints in the sand, what little there were of them. She could only keep going and hope she found him before she got herself lost.

She did not know how long she had been walking when there was a sound of a tree branch breaking off to her right. Her heart lept up in happiness and she called out,"Saitoh?" When there was no answer, she began to feel afraid though she tried not to admit it. Taking a step toward the noise, she called again,"Saitoh? Is that you?"
